HELPING HUBBY STAY HEALTHY

Cancer Charity, Men's Health
As a loving wife (or girlfriend), you consider your partner’s health to be as important as your own. Unfortunately, as we all know, men can be a little stubborn with regards to their health. This can bring very serious consequences, which is why you must do everything in your power to keep him on the right track.

You don’t want to be pushy in life, but their health is far too important to ignore. Here are five simple ways that you can encourage him to take greater care.

Get Him To Quit Cigarettes / Booze

In many ways, ridding yourself of addiction is the hardest thing on earth. However, it only requires not doing something. With your love and support, he can finally stay mentally strong for long enough to finally quit for good.

Of course, there are many products and support groups out there. These can be very useful tools throughout the journey ahead. If all else fails, remind him of the financial gains.

Get Him To Rediscover The Love Of Exercise

If your man loves his food, getting him to start dieting may be off the cards. Most men enjoy sport or exercise in one shape or form, though. Encourage him to get back into the gym, and his health and fitness will soon increase.

Motivation is often the major stumbling block. A gym buddy will help him stay on track. Meanwhile, rather than focusing on goals related to health, teach him to concentrate on times and sporting progress.

Get Him To Drink More

Even if the diet option is on the table, it would be wrong to suggest a strategy that will work. After all, we are all individuals and should adopt unique eating habits. Nonetheless, drinking more water should sit at the heart of all nutrition plans.

Drinking more water brings many physical benefits. When supplemented by a black coffee before workouts, your man will feel healthier and happier than ever. Even if he sticks to his old eating habits.

Get Him To Pay Attention To Problems

It’s one thing to help your partner maintain positive habits. However, the far greater danger comes from the health problems that will inevitably impact us all. Everyone will face a few health issues from time to time. Whether it’s a minor or life-changing problem, early action is essential.

Let’s face it; something like prostate cancer diagnosis will lead to some very worrying times. Nevertheless, the sooner treatment is started, the more likely a full recovery will become. Ignoring the smaller issues like flu can be damaging too. Essentially, it’s better to be safe than sorry. Even if he puts up a fight, stamping your foot down in this area is key.

Get Him To Relax (Properly)

Many men will spend their evenings glued to the PS4. While a little recreational gaming is fine, you cannot afford to let this dominate your lives. Not only is it bad for the relationship, but it’s bad for his health. This is because it will reduce his quality and quantity of sleep.

A good night’s sleep does make a huge difference and is something we should all seek. When combined with a little walking or practicing yoga, your man’s physical and emotional health will look better than ever.

WORKOUT MOTIVATION

We all have the best intentions when it comes to exercise, but it’s difficult to stay motivated in the face of exhaustion, busy schedules, and the siren call of the sofa and a new Netflix show. That said, there are a few ways you can push yourself to meet your workout targets, whether you’ve set yourself a daily goal or a weekly goal. Give it some time, and soon you won’t be able to skip a workout without feeling restless.

Join a Gym

While there are many ways to workout at home for free, you might feel more motivated to work out if there were money at stake. Joining a gym isn’t too expensive if you go often enough, but the more sessions you miss, the more money you’re throwing down the drain. It’s not a motivation tool that works for everyone, but it’s worth giving it a shot if you think you’ll benefit from routine and instruction.

Recruit a Friend

Exercise can be painful, especially during the early days. But it feels less painful if you’re sharing your suffering with a friend. Having a gym buddy gives you some healthy competition, a cheerleader, and emotional support when you both collapse from exhaustion. Alternatively, you can drag a friend dancing to burn a few calories on the dance floor.

Quick Workouts

If time is something you’re lacking, then you can do some quick, but effective, ten minute workouts that are just as beneficial for weight loss. Jump rope burns more calories than running (an estimated 1300 calories per hour) and it’s easy to just stick some music on and skip for the duration of three or four songs. As it’s a bodyweight exercise, jump rope does help improve muscle tone, but it also targets the thighs, shins, and calf muscles, while simultaneously working on the abs and arms. It’s also easier on your knees and ankles because it’s a low impact workout. With just ten minutes a day on a trampoline, you could boost weight loss, define muscle tone, and improve your overall health. A ten minute workout on a trampoline is the equivalent of running on a treadmill for thirty minutes. It firms the legs, thighs, abdomen, arms and hips, increases agility, and improves sense of balance. Most importantly, it lowers the risk of injury, as the flexible surface reduces the impact of landing.

Dancing

Sometimes the problem with structured workouts is that they’re boring, or they’re not fun enough to keep you interested. Dancing is one of the more fun workouts out there, whether you buy a dance workout DVD, look them up on YouTube, or just blast the music on your radio. It’s also a full body workout that’s good for your heart, makes you stronger, and aids with balance and coordination. A 30 minute workout can burn as many calories as jogging. But unlike running on a treadmill, dancing is also a creative outlet; you can make up your own moves, learn established steps, and choose your own music.

KEEPIN' IT CLASSY

Sometimes, life calls for an outfit that’s a little classier than the rest. Not that you don’t dress in classy manner usually; just that sometimes, it may not be your main focus. One day you may want to dress in wild prints, another you might want to show off your legs and enhance your curves. However you want to dress, that’s A-ok. That being said, it’s worth knowing how to put together a classy outfit without bordering on boring territory. The following 5 simple steps will help you:

Step 1 - Choose Just One Body Part To Show Off

If you want to make sure you look classy, whatever the occasion, then the general rule is to ensure that you only show off one body part. For example, your legs, chest, or even your arms. Showing off too many of these body parts will distract from your outfit. It might be fine for a night out or a festival, but if you’re going to a wedding or a formal function, it’s best to be a little bit more conservative.

Step 2 - Focus On Sophisticated Accessories

Sophisticated accessories are going to make your outfit. Without accessories, your outfit can fall flat. You can include things like rings, clutch bags, and even a nice shawl/bolero jacket. Bear in mind that you shouldn’t go overboard with your accessories, as you’ll start to look garish rather than classy. Many people like to order pearl earrings and wear those to add an element of class to their outfits. They look especially great with a hair-up style to show them off!

Step 3 - Make Sure You Include Plenty Of Texture

Texture in your outfit is the thing that’s going to stop it from looking boring. If your outfit doesn’t have enough texture, you need to add some in, pronto! You could add a textured jacket or cardigan, or even make sure you have some texture on your shoes/bag. You can include it however you like, just make sure there’s enough of it!

Step 4 - Don’t Forget To Show Off Your Personal Style

Not all classy outfits need to be created equal. You might not like the idea of a ‘classy’ outfit as you may think it has to suit a certain type of style, but this is not the case. Make sure you show off your personal style when putting your outfit together. Even bohemian dressers can put together a classy outfit that suits them down to the ground. It just takes a little planning!

Step 5 - Ensure A Great Fit

Finally, your outfit should fit you well if you're going to put together a classy outfit. Baggy t-shirts and oversized dresses can be great, but they don’t look ‘classy’. If you have an outfit you love, it might even be worth taking it to a tailor for them to make it fit you perfectly.

EVENING CALM IN THE CITY

Sometimes you just need to admit that you need TLC and schedule in some me-time. This is exactly what I needed when I booked in to sample the 'Evening Calm in the City' Package at the stunning Midland Hotel in Manchester.

Having felt a little stressed with the dreaded office induced neck and shoulder niggles that just would not shift, this experience came at exactly the time I needed it most, and I left feeling relaxed and pampered!

Situated in the very heart of Manchester, the Spa at the Midland is a private city hideaway steeped in luxury where the ‘Art of Relaxation’ is taken seriously and stress immediately melts away.

The package I enjoyed was the Evening Calm In The City which starts at £49pp.

I was able to indulge in an evening of pure tranquility which included;
•Access between 5.00pm - 8.30pm to the award-winning facilities,
•Use of the Himalayan rock salt sauna, salt-infused steam room and relaxation pool,
•The snuggliest most comfortable complimentary robe, slippers and towel,
•A yummy two-course evening meal in Mr Cooper's House & Garden (available between 5pm - 10pm)

I also spoiled myself further by adding an Express Spa Treatment to my evening for an additional £20pp! I opted for a 30 minute massage and it was absolutely divine.

Each part of my evening felt super luxurious and the relaxation room was one of the most relaxing places I think I have ever been!

I can highly recommend the Evening Calm in the City, I went alone and loved it but it would be equally as lovely with friends too.

After my treatment and some chill time, I head over to Mr Coopers House and Garden Restaurant for a meal. They have the option of a 2 course meal or you can select from the main menu and pay the difference which is what I did! It was so nice and I really loved the ambiance of the restaurant.

To book in please contact the Spa at the Midland on 0161 932 4086.

PROTECTING YOUR GORGEOUS LOCKS

Your hair is a big part of your beauty. It’s fair to say that when you change your hairstyle, you can completely alter your look. But you can only do this, if you have beautiful, healthy hair that doesn’t fall out, get weak, grow thin or look frizzy. That’s why it’s important to examine the ways that you can keep your hair healthy and vibrant. There are a number of tips and tricks that you can think about here as well as advice if you do find that your hair is starting to look unhealthy.

Bamboo Oils

If you’re looking for a natural way to improve your hair, you should think about using bamboo oils. This is perfect if you think your hair is looking thinner than usual. Not only will bamboo oils make your hair look thicker, they have been shown to improve the strength of your hair. As such, you’ll suffer less hair loss. Of course, it is important to realize that the average person sheds about a hundred hairs a day. So, if you do notice your hair falling out, it might just be the natural amount, rather than a real problem with your hair.

Stem Cell Research

You might have a bald patch or an issue with thinning hair in a particular area of your head. If that’s the case, you should think about looking at the next generation of research into this, and that’s stem cells. With stem cell technology, it’s possible to get the hair to grow back. Stem cell treatment for hair loss is a brand new innovation and is being developed right now. The biggest benefit of this treatment is that it doesn’t require surgery and as such there are no signs that you have had treatment as is the case with hair plugs.

It’s easy to assume that men are the only people who have issues with hairloss, but that’s not true. As women get older, it’s quite common for their hair to thin as well and if you have this issue, you should definitely think about exploring this treatment option.

Give Your Hair A Break

There are lots of different ways you can style your hair from dye to straightening to curling. They all have one thing in common. Used to excess they will damage your hair. Even hair dye can cause your hair to lose its natural colour. So, if you do use any of these style techniques, you should make sure that you give your hair a break in between. If you have been straightening your hair give it a few months off to recover and regain its strength. At the very least, you should make sure you are using heat protection when straightening your hair.

Extra Tip

Finally, if you find that your hair has lost its colour and shine lately, you might want to try the tea bag trick. Soaking your hair in hot water with tea bags can give it a natural, glossy look that is absolutely stunning. After you have rinsed your hair, you’ll certainly love how it glistens in the light.

MAINTAINING YOUR INNER HEALTH

Being healthy is more than just having a body free of disease; it’s about taking care of your physical, mental, and emotional health. Doctors don’t recommend diet and exercise because they’re sadists who like to see people suffer. They do it because, since the beginning of time, diet and exercise have been crucial factors in maintaining a healthy body. It’s more important than ever that we pay attention to our mental health, because chronic stress can have a direct impact on your physical well-being. True health starts from within, and here is how you can kick-start the journey.

Diet and Exercise
It’s always good to start with the basics. Consult your doctor about your ideal diet plan and try your best to stick to it, but don’t be too hard on yourself if you occasionally indulge in some cheeky puddings. Finding an exercise that you enjoy doing is important for your physical fitness, and it’s good for reversing the effects of your sedentary lifestyle. If you find it difficult to stay motivated, then get yourself a gym buddy or running buddy to stay on track. Don’t forget to drink plenty of water; drinking at least two litres of water a day will keep your brain sharp, clear your skin, and help you lose more weight.
Keep your body in peak condition
Exercise will definitely improve your physical appearance, but it also leaves you more at risk of injuries. The best person to treat your sports injuries and help undo all the strain on your body is your local chiropractor; they can reduce pain symptoms without medication, reduce the risk of injury, and even enhance athletic performance. Chiropractic can also help you treat the cause of any other health problems you might have, instead of just alleviating the symptoms. Finally, this non-invasive treatment can improve your mental health, mostly because you’re no longer in pain, or suffering from the side effects of your medication.
Yoga
One of the best things about yoga is that it encourages you to focus on your breathing, your inner self, and on cultivating a sense of calm and serenity. You don’t even need to go to a gym to enjoy the benefits of a yoga workout. There are a number of yoga instructors with free YouTube channels for you to try in the comfort of your living room. Even when you have a To Do list a mile long, yoga teaches you to focus on the moment, and on recharging your energy. As an added bonus, yoga also does great things for your body. You get toned, you give your spine a much-needed stretch, and with a little time most of your aches and pains will vanish.
Sleep
Never underestimate the power of a good night’s sleep. People who suffer from insomnia are more likely to suffer from an increased risk of hypertension, diabetes, obesity, depression, heart attack, and stroke. On the other hand, getting more sleep will improve your memory, lower your stress, and enhance creativity.

BODY SHAPES AND HOW TO DRESS THEM

No matter what kind of shape and proportion your body is - there is always something out there for everyone. It's just about finding what's right and dressing your body appropriately.

It's not about weight, so don't focus on that otherwise your risk beating yourself up about the little things that you can't change. Everyone comes in all different shapes and sizes, so it's not about comparing yourself to your best friend, it's about working with what you've got and owning it!

A skinny girl can have the exact same shape as a larger girl, just as much as a taller woman can be the same shape as a short woman.

The different body shapes tend to be put into five different categories which are hourglass, wedge, pear, apple and rectangle. It's possible to be one of these, or even a blend of two or more. So get looking at your body in the mirror and come to a conclusion of where you fall. Once you have an idea, you can start looking at the different fashion trends to add to your wardrobe, remember that your clothes care, so you need to know what to get, and what to avoid.

The Hourglass
Hourglass bodies shoulders and hips are in similar proportion to one another, while the waist dramatically goes inwards.

Because of the shape, your goal is to show off the curves that you have going on. The thing to focus on when doing this is balance. You want your bust area to always follow what your hips are doing. Because of your small waist, you will want to look for dresses that hug that area nicely, without creating any bunching from any extra material, as this will do the opposite of what you want to do.

Belts are a great accessory to have, as they can be tied around your waist over an oversized top, jumper or dress, to show how tiny you actually are in that area, while making your bust and hips look incredible. It's also worth investing in a decent bra that holds your boobs correctly. And consider wearing some high waisted skirts and jeans too.

The Wedge
Wedge bodies are also known as the inverted triangle, which means they have wider shoulders and a broader chest with a narrow waist and hips.

Your main goal here is to show off those great legs while softening what going on up top to take away any harshness.

So for your legs, go a little shorter down below, while wearing something with light sleeves over your arms. This will instantly put the attention onto your bottom half, without showing off too much skin in one go.

Another way you can do this is by wearing a brighter colour on the bottom, with something neutral on top. Wide leg pants are also a great trick in creating the illusion of an hourglass shape by evening out the balance that your shoulders created.

You may want to avoid spaghetti straps and strapless tops as this will put the focus on your upper body again.

The Pear
Pear bodies have hips a lot wider than their shoulders. The bottom tends to be slightly rounded while getting narrower the higher you go.

Your goal is to add volume to your upper body, emphasizing your waist as you do so.

You can do this by playing around with different necklines when it comes to dress shopping. Sweetheart, plunging and a scoop-neck all work very well at showing off your small shoulders. Pair this with something that slims down your hips and thighs, like a tulip fitted skirt.

Experiment with lighter coloured tops and darker coloured bottoms for a nice contrast. And try some strapless dresses to show off the lovely frame you have. Add a pointed toe heel with it to extend your legs, and you'll look fabulous.

The Apple
Apple bodies carry most of their weight above their narrow hips, while the shoulders and back are quite broad.

The goal for you is to elongate that torso and show off the legs that you're working with.
Because you have a fuller torso paired with a minimal waistline, the key is to lengthen your body out.
Do this with dresses that have a V-neck. You can create your own waist and take the attention off your midsection by wearing a jacket with a lot of structure, over a dress. The jacket will essentially work as a cover up, but to others, you will look great.

If you are wearing trousers, go for something with a bootcut, or that flares out, creating an even line from your shoulders down.

The Rectangle
Rectangular bodies shoulders, waist and hips are all similar widths apart. Your goal here is to create a smaller waist, resulting in an hourglass shaped body.

Think of choosing a sweetheart neckline, as this will add more of the illusion of having curves. You could also wear a pencil skirt that has a slit up one (or both) sides, showing off the legs a little, but not too much, leaving behind visual interest.

It's all about building dimension to the body so it doesn't look flat. So wear a chunky belt that pulls you in and gives you a waist, and don't be afraid to add some accessories to the look to give it more elements
.
Consider wearing a two piece with a crop top and skirt, shorts, or pants. Not only is this bang on trend but it will create the illusion of a narrower waist because it's left bare.

So as you can see, there are tons of options for every kind of shape out there. So no more hiding away not knowing what to wear, and feeling down about your body. You're gorgeous, and now you know the tricks to dressing right - you have a great excuse to go on a shopping spree with your besties and look for what's hot.

As long as you wear your self-confidence, you will look amazing every day.

MAKE UP BAG STAPLES

There comes a point with makeup where you realise that you have finally set your path. It may take years to get there, but finally noticing that you are buying the same staples for your makeup bag once you know what you like can be one of the most gratifying things ever. It saves countless hours spent in drugstores swatching lipsticks on the back of your hand, or grabbing something with the hope that it will look fantastic, only to realise later that you have wasted your money … and can't return the product.

So what gives? What should we be looking to invest our money in beauty-wise that will stand the test of time?

Eyes
The majority of people nowadays place focus around the eyes. These are their stand-out point, and there is a lot that can be done with them. The main essential that you will need to find is a brand of mascara that works for you. This may take a little trial and error; there are always new formulas and brushes on the market for you to try, but if you know that one particular combination works for you, stick with it. Obviously there are mascaras that are made specifically for different looks, such as ones which will give the appearance of false lashes rather than natural ones, but go with the style that you know will apply to you the majority of the time. The pro beauty supplies that you need for the rest of your eyes depend on your preference; whether it’s nude eyeshadows that you want to go for or vibrant colours, eyeliners or not - just make sure that you get a compact version rather than lots of little pots to save room. Beauty companies that let you make up your own eyeshadow palettes are the ones to look out for so you know that you’ll make use of every colour.

Face
It's not just the foundation that you use that you need to take into consideration. It's the type that you have gone for, thinking about whether it provides SPF coverage or not, if it's the right shade for you the majority of the time (if you tan in summer it won't be a match) and it's moisturising properties. When you find coverage that ticks all of these boxes, that's when it can become a staple for your bag. You don’t want to be carrying around a load of different ones - it can get messy if the lids every fall off, as well as being a big proportion of your space taken up. There are blushers available that usually come with a small brush in with the compact - Bourjois are a good example. It saves you from taking up valuable space with a bigger blush brush to apply it on with.

Lips
Scrub, gloss and stick. That should be the rule that you are sticking to to keep your makeup bag staples down to a minimum. Scrubs can be homemade out of sugar and any edible oils that you have to keep the mixture moist, and popped into a little tub ready to get your lips ready for the application of gloss or lipstick - or both. Going for a shade which is wearable for a lot of occasions, be it professional or casual, is definitely the way forward. If you are taking up room with one-off shades that you know that you will only ever wear with certain outfits or in certain seasons, take them out and put them in your makeup display at home.

Brows
This is a subject that is quite up in the air. Some people can get away with just carrying around a small pair of tweezers with them to nip at the flyaway strays that are getting in the way, while others require a little bit more. If you can get a hold of a compact brow kit such as Benefit’s Brow Zings, this will eliminate the need to carry a pencil, wax and filler along with you.

The Bag Itself
Go for a bag that reflects your personality; there are hundreds out there to choose from, so make sure you pick one that appeals. Go for the size that you want that suits your needs; there’s no point in investing in a makeup bag that won’t hold even half of your essentials, nevermind all of them. Get a bag that is made out of something that is suitable for your needs; if you know that you need something more durable than the traditional plastic, invest in canvas instead.

COSMETIC PROCEDURES YOU MAY WANT TO TRY?

Cosmetic procedures have skyrocketed in popularity over the past decade or so. Not only are more people trying different procedures out for themselves, but they’re proud of it. They are seen as an investment in oneself. Not a secret to be kept under wraps. Perhaps we have the out-and-proud nature of celebrities like the Kardashians, Nicki Minaj and Amber Rose to thank for this. Or maybe we are just more confident in ourselves and proud of the time, effort and cash that we put into making ourselves look exactly as we please. Regardless of the reasons, there are more and more cosmetic procedures making their way onto the market and leaving individuals everywhere looking fabulous. Here are a few favorites that you might like to try out yourself!

Laser Hair Removal

2017 has seen the number of young women reducing the amount that they shave. Armpit hair has come back into fashion with certain demographics and the Brazilian wax is less common, with many people opting for a more natural look instead. But some of us still prefer the silky smooth look. This usually comes at a price though. Many of us experience razor burn, uncomfortable regrowth, and general skin irritation when shaving. Waxing can be messy and epilation is relatively painful. So is there a way to achieve smooth, hairless skin without the regular pain and discomfort involved in traditional hair removal methods? Well, of course! Science and cosmetic procedures have come to the rescue with the introduction of laser hair removal. This can be used on most areas of the body: underarms, arms, legs, upper lip and intimate areas. The list goes on. If this is something that interests you, book in for a consultation and qualified practitioners will be able to tell you whether the treatment is suitable for your skin and hair type. Those with fair skin and dark hair tend to be the best applicants, while those with fair skin and red or blonde hair may find less effective results.

Skin Resurfacing

Many of us spend years trying out alternative (and often expensive) skin products in an attempt to achieve that flawless, photoshop finish in real life. Whether we’re trying to encourage acne scars to fade away, minimize the appearance of pores or reverse signs of aging, we often find that creams and special treatments don’t quite give us the desired effect. So where do we turn? A good place to start is the renowned Belgravia Clinic, who offer i-Pixel Laser treatment. This is the latest innovation in years of research on fractional skin resurfacing and will deliver spectacular results with minimal downtime.

Hyperhidrosis Treatment

Hyperhidrosis is the perfect treatment for those who want to stay fresh and dry, even on the warmest summer days. Excess sweating is a really common problem for many of us, but when deodorants and antiperspirants fall short, there are alternative options available. Hyperhidrosis involves the injection of Botox into problem areas, which prevents excessive sweating and keeps you dry at all times.
