Weekday Wishlist #22

The weather is throwing all sorts at us this week isn't it.. that's why my Weekday Wishlist looks a little mixed up this week too!

I have an upcoming jaunt to Marbs that I can't stop thinking about (namely because I am on day 2 of the #myfirstbikini diet and it's the only thing keeping me going with the lack of sugar headache!) so there's a few summery items thrown in amongst the wintery things!

First up is the pineapple cover up dress from Topshop - I love how cute this is! It just screams summer!

Next are the Paris Suspender Tights from ASOS - absolutely love them but not sure I would actually wear in real life... I love Paris!

The River Island Platforms are next up and I think these are classically gorgeous with the tan and black leather.

Neons are very much the trend du jour and this shirt from Topshop is no exception, with a gorgeous neon print it will look amazing when we finally get a Spring season...

Standard Sally choice next.. a black lace swing dress. I heart swing dresses - they suit my shape and I love lace so this is a double delight for me!

The River Island Jacket is very Chanel Style and again will be fab once we actually break out of this FREEZING WEATHER!

Last but by no means least is the Little Mistress Floral Prom Dress! The colours, the shape, the addition of black.. just some of the reasons why I am IN LOVE with this pretty dress!

What are you lusting after this week?

When Things Go Wrong...

A bit of a different post from me today. My Blog encompasses Lifestyle as well as Beauty and Fashion and sometime we find ourselves in situations where things go really wrong and we need some help putting things right.

Moving Out...

Woohoo.. another thing to tick off the To-Do List! I am moving out of home this week to a fab new flat with one of my best pals :o)

We are moving to Didsbury in a rather lovely two bed flat and I am SO EXCITED! Planning a new room is always so fun and picking the decor together has been hilarious. We have opted for a Parisian Chic/Love theme in the living room with browns, creams and beige as the room is very white at the moment! (I will put some pics up on Instagram and my Facebook Pages so you can see!)

I need to hunt out a cheap photo canvas supplier as we want to get a picture of the Eiffel Tower on a canvas developed so if anyone has anyone they have used then please share the details below!

In my bedroom I have opted for a girly floral theme with blue floral Primark bedding, twinkly lights and flowers. I will have to be strategic about fitting all my bits and bobs in my room so I have got lots of different storage items including a back of door shoe/scarf holder for in the wardrobe and some Cath Kidston underbed storage boxes!

I really want these salt and pepper shakers because they are so adorable **cough.. housewarming gift.. cough**. I also want this to carry my diet lunches to work in style! Basically anything Cath Kidston! Oohh I have just spotted these delightful rubber duck towels too.. WANT! :o)

I am so excited, can't wait to show you all the new pad!

Roll Up, Roll Up to The Shoe Carnival @ Selfridges

The Shoe Carnival at Selfridges Trafford
Shoes glorious shoes was very much the focus of my evening last night when I attended The Shoe Carnival Party at Selfridges Trafford Centre.

With an abundance of gorgeous shoes on offer at any Selfridges store, it's nice to see some focus on the wardrobe item that always fits.. SHOES!

The event celebrated the shoe in all its forms, from the dizzy heights of a killer heel to a slighly safer embellished flat.. I was in foot paradise as I wandered round all of the brands and took in all the latest styles!

Studs and embellishments seem to be the look du jour with a vast majority of designs featuring one or both of the two, along with some flashes of colour. Neon is also thrown into the mix for the braver shoe wearer, along with the staple classics that always remain an integral part of any fashionista's wardrobe, much like the waltzers at the Carnival. It might not be the scariest of rides but it's always fun and suits all ages!

In genuine Carnival style, attendees were treated to colourful fruit smoothies and candy floss, pictured having a ball in the photobooth and the most exciting gimmick of the event was the special guests; The Bumby’s – world famous and flown in especially from LA!

Gill and Jill Bumby are anonymous performance artists who give ‘Fair and Honest Appraisals of Your Appearance’ with their manual typewriters and charming wit! I must admit I did feel slightly nervous as I got a look up a down from behind a pair of sunglasses, not dissimilar to a certain Ms Wintour and furious tapping at the Type Writer commenced! This is what the Bumby's wrote about me, I will take that 9.6 rather happily!!

All in all it was a fantastic event and I really enjoyed it, I'm off to plan a party now seeing as I apparently get the perfect mix of the A-List Glam and scuzzy but fun gutter trash invited ;o)

Review: PerfumeClick.co.uk

Need a beauty treat and not got much dollar until payday? Head on over to Perfume Click which is 'the home of discount fragrance and beauty products'!

I was recently contacted by the lovely people at Perfume Click and told all about the site and how they offer big discounts on well known branded beauty products. I always LOVE a beauty bargain so I rather excitedly looked through all the bits and bobs you can get and placed an order*.

I purchased some TIGI Shampoo and Conditioner as I have literally just bought some new perfume so I thought I would treat my hair to some goodies!

The purchasing process is simple, quick and easy to follow. The products arrived really quickly, were really well packaged and good lord that stuff smells good enough to eat! The discount on the products is amazing and to think I had a salon size shampoo and regular conditioner for under £20 is pretty good.

It's worth having a look through as Fake Bake Fair comes in at £11, they have deal of the week and special offers all with really low delivery charges. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending this site to you all and I will 100% use the site again!

Check out Perfume Click's Facebook and Twitter Pages too :o)

Session 1 of #MyFirstBikini Challenge!

Gooood Morning!

Last night I attended my first session with Chris at Elite Performance Gym where I had the vital stats taken and my movements video'd! I am pretty excited to get properly started but I will be honest, it was last night's session I was dreading.

I really hate being measured and weighed and all that jazz, I know that I shouldn't shy away from the truth and that things will only get better, but as a girl I think mentally, everything tells you to dress and pose and do whatever you can to appear slimmer. Willingly letting someone measure me and see certain parts of me was actually quite a lot more difficult than I thought it would be. I am one for the humour and being blase about things but that is where I feel my most vulnerable.

That said, I think Chris made is as quick and painless-ish (we will move on to that momentarily!!!) as possible and this is just the starting point so I just grinned (winced inside) and got on with it! Things can only get better right?!

I also briefly mentioned about the Bio-Signature profiling in my first post, which will help Chris see where I store fat on my body so we can target those areas in my training sessions - this bit I am fascinated by, but the process of finding it is a tad awkward!

To describe this in understandable terms, if you imagine a pincer like tool with a pressure gauge attached to it which then pinches certain areas of your body then that is how they can calculate the profile. In the interest of giving you a warts and all run down of my experiences I am going to be brutally honest - this bit was quite embarassing. Chris had to basically locate all my flabby bits, pinch them and then clamp it to get the data.

I have a pretty high embarassment threshold but this has cringe written all over it, and it can be quite uncomfortable at times. I am really not being negative about this as actually it wasn't that bad, we had a few laughs, but I want to give an accurate portrayal of what I am going through in the hope that if anyone else is reading this and wants to try it then they know exactly what to expect.

Chris then got me to do certain movements and he filmed me doing them so he can assess my weaker areas and build an exercise programme around what I can physically do. Again - pretty embarassing, more so because the thought that there are numerous videos of me flailing around, tripping up and falling over out there make me feel nervous. Who knows, one day I might ask Chris to send them to me and could post it on YouTube for comedy value, but for now I would rather pretend to myself that they don't exist and PRAY that Chris never loses his phone!!!

I now have all the nutrition plans and information to have a read through but I have to say that I am still excited to get going and make a real change to how I look and feel. I know this post may come across as though I didn't enjoy the first session when I actually did but I think that as I document this journey then I need to tell you the good, the bad and the ugly!

I know this isn't going to be easy but I do love a challenge... Bring it on!

The Editeur: Luxe Weekday Wishlist #21

Dress Alice by Temperley // Flip Flops DVF // Drapey Knit Jumper Joseph // Pink Dress DVF // Poncho Missoni // Coat Moschino Cheap and Chic // Dress Moschino Cheap and Chic
This week's Weekday Wishlist is slightly different in that I have focussed it on a more luxe scale than the high street versions I normally do.

Every girl can dream about what you might buy if you had a little windfall or if someone gave you £1000 to fritter away and for those of us who live in the Cheshire area, I think The Editeur would be where I would choose to spend some of this fictional lottery win!

Jokes aside, if you were looking for an outfit for a special occasion and wanted something really different then I would definitely encourage you to take a look at The Editeur (online or instore depending on where you are in the Country!) With boutiques located in Chester and a new shop recently opened in Hale in Cheshire, The Editeur have some stunning pieces and stock brands that are a little more difficult to track down than some other designers that crop up all over the show.

I have picked out my favourite pieces from the site that cater for now.. (hello beyootiful Missoni Poncho and Moschino dress coat) but also some items that would be perfect in the summer months! I didn't purposefully pick out a specific colour palette but all seem to been kind of similar funnily enough?!

A friend of a friend owns The Editeur and I think the pieces they have picked out to feature are absolutely gorgeous, they clearly have a fantastic eye for style and I really wanted to showcase how amazing their offering is. The Boutiques are really lovely and are a treat to visit and soak up the beauty of the clothes. So please check them out and I am positive you will not be disappointed!!

I actually really want this poncho in a big way.. it is reduced to just under £90 and I love it.. What would you buy if someone gave you £1000 and told you to spend it on treats??

Perry Nelvill

Have you ever wondered what happens to all those Fashion and Textile Students who graduate from the Art Schools in the UK and how they sell their collections? I have.. which is why when I heard about Perry Nelvill I thought it was a pretty damn cool set up!

Perry Nelvill is an online boutique selling the work of recently graduated fashion and textile designers from Art Schools across the UK to an international audience.

Perry sells work which is bold, brave and at the epitome of creativity; work which is produced when each designer has few “market-led” constraints. They encourage creative development whilst establishing a professional presence on the fashion and textiles marketplace for every designer.

Each piece of work for sale is manifestly individual: pieces of inspiration, beauty and quality which can be purchased online at Perry Nelvill.

So if you want a piece of the UK's emerging Fashion or Textiles talent then head on over to Perry Nelvill!

#MyFirstBikini A Challenge to Myself...

I am very excited to tell you about a new challenge I am setting myself in conjunction with Elite Performance Gym in Manchester and Freya Lingerie/Swimwear!

I have NEVER worn a bikini in my life and I've decided on a whim that this summer is the summer I am going to do it! I am going to Marbella in July for a hen do and I want to be in one of Freya's gorgeous bikini's when I am partying at Ocean Club!

One of the reasons I have decided to set myself this challenge as I had heard all about Elite Performance Gym from one of my pals and the fact that they aren't like your typical gym with their 'one size fits all' approach to personal training and working towards goals.

My longer term readers may remember my dabbling with kettle bells experience and the fact that I have been trying to lose some weight through attending weight watchers. It is a slow process at the moment which I do see is healthier but also I really think I need to up the ante. I would usually shy away from PT's as I HATE the thought of being shouted at or doing in front of loads of other people! I need more gentle coersion than being shouted at...

One of the major selling points of Elite Performance Fitness is that I get a combination of training and nutrition advice based on a 'Biosignature Modulation' profile that works on the basis that certain foods do not agree with certain hormones and react as becoming fat stores. My trainer Chris will help me work towards a realistic and achievable goal (e.g. wearing a bikini and actually looking nice in it this summer!) and already I feel genuinely excited by what lies ahead. Like I said I have little to no experience in what is best exercise wise and I get bored very quickly.

I think it can be quite an intimidating experience going to a trainer, telling them what is wrong and what you want to achieve. It's like admitting you have a problem and need someone's help in getting there - I cannot stress how good these guys were in my consultation with them though. I went in feeling initially quite apprehensive that they would laugh at me and then I spoke to Chris (who will be my trainer) and Elite Performance Gym's owner Anthony and both were so nice and friendly that I was sold!

I will be documenting my progress on here over the next few weeks as I get started, with an aim to be in a gorgeous Freya bikini by mid-July!

I was introduced to Freya Lingerie and Swimwear at the #HPMLFW Event where I chatted with the team about the brand and the fact that they cater for larger cup sizes. I went and got measured and was so shocked that I have been wearing the completely wrong size for ages - it has made an incredible difference to my silhouette and made me look thinner as a result! I definitely want #myfirstbikini to be a Freya purchase as I know it will be of high quality, a lovely style and most importantly fit me properly!

So now I just need to get cracking and go full steam ahead towards my goals! If any of you are in the Manchester area are thinking about embarking on a personal training mission and have any questions or want to chat to me about the Gym before you call them then please feel free to email me - I completely understand how nerve wracking/off putting these things can be!

Alternatively contact Anthony and the team using the details above and get ready to achieve your fitness dreams :o)

French Pharmacie Products in the UK!!!

Bloggers can be a little bit like sheep in terms of a new wonder product on the market, and I am guilty of this too.. when I heard about Bioderma and the rave reviews it got, I literally skipped aboard that band wagon and excitedly purchased some when I went to Paris earlier this year.

I have VERY temperamental skin, I had adult acne in my early twenties and since then it is a daily battle to keep my hormones from having an adverse effect on my skin. This means when I find something I like and that cleanses my skin without stressing it out, I get a wee bit giddy. Bioderma is that product for me. Paired with my trusty La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo and other spot busting potions I have found a skincare regime that really works for me.

Breakouts still happen but they are much less angry looking and seem to clear up much quicker than they used to. You can really tell the difference in these products as there is quite obviously some serious work that goes on behind the scenes to figure out the science behind it!

Bioderma was one of the first brands to pioneer the Micellar Water/Solution offering and in normal person terms it just means oil suspended water - i.e. tiny molecules of oil within water. The solution can be applied to the face to remove makeup or grime/residue or even just to freshen up and the oil breaks it down to remove it cleanly and easily with no tugging or rubbing. But the important thing is that the oil ratio is quite low so you don't end up with an oil slick face or further breakouts!

I bet you are thinking 'well, great but where I am going to get my hands on it and other French Pharmacie Brands?

The answer to that is head on over to Escentual!

Escentual are running a promotion which gives up to 33% off RRP for Vichy, Klorane, Caudalie and Nuxe products to name a few, so get purchasing those goodies whilst they have discount!

For the Bioderma products, Escentual have very kindly given me a discount code "BIODERMA10" which will give you 10% off Bioderma products till 31st March. So give it a try and tell me what you think?

What's on your French Pharmacie wishlist?

#MCRFW Monthlies Box

Manchester Fashion Week Blogger Box Goodies*
This post is probs a little late to the party.. but due to an unforeseen delay on my box from the lovely people over at #MCRFW I am only able to post about it this week!
I still think my postman 'lost' my box as it's contents were just so amazing!
As a part of my role as official blogger to Manchester Fashion Week, I was given some goodies to try out! You can see from the above that I really was treated to some fab bits and bobs, I have been able to sample some of them and here are my thoughts;
Pop Chips: For a low fat snack these are ruddy delicious! A bit more substantial than snack a jacks, Pop Chips are 'popped' potato chips. They are really tasty and this first pack has made me want more..
Hotel Chocolat Chocolates: I took these with me for the night before my friend's big day at the weekend and they are amazing. Hellooooo salted caramel chocolate slabs inside it! Phwoar they were a bit lovely!
Lancome Mascara: This wavy wand is incredible for length and curl, I would highly recommend it if you are looking for a new mascara! I am wearing it in the post below - no falsies just my own stubby lashes!
Balmi Lipbalm: My blackcurrant flavour balmi lip balm is a new fave of mine. I love how ergonomic they are, it smells lovely and it does a fab job of moisturising the smackers!
Megaload Pretzel Peanut Butter Cups: OH MY GOOD GOD. These are heavenly. I'm actually glad that I don't know who stocks these as I have a feeling my continuing bridesmaid diet could take a turn for the worse... I will find out for anyone who is interested though. They are a real treat for any PB fans!
Tea Pigs Tea, Redken Product, Lustrous Locks, gorgeous ring and Lancome eye serum haven't been sampled yet but you will be the first to know when I have tried them!

Review: Beauty Works Hair Pieces

Beauty Works Hair Extensions and Hair Pieces
Today I wanted to tell you all about these amazing hair pieces I got from Beauty Works*. With the wedding season coming up along with holidays I thought I would talk to you about the plaited hair bands I have tried!

I always get so stressed out with my hair on holiday or when it needs to behave and refuses to. That's why when I was offered the chance to try some of the hair pieces - I was excited to see how I could make use of them!

For the above photos I popped the fishtail head band and festival braided hairband into loose hair but you could use these on an updo or any style as they are so versatile. What I particularly liked about them is that they have a hook at the back, kind of like a strapless bra so you don't have to do the annoying thing of pulling them over your face!

The colour match on the photos looks a little dark compared to my hair, but I am planning to go a little darker so I am not too bothered - in normal lighting you can't notice that much of a difference. Beauty Works have a fab colour matching service so you can be confident that you will get the correct colour match for your hair!

I was so impressed with these and I can't wait to use them on my upcoming jaunt to Marbs for my friend's hen party!

I also tried out a beehive bun so keep checking back for my thoughts on that :o)

I would highly recommend these hair pieces and they are very reasonably priced for a high quality item - check out Beauty Works Website for all the other products they have!

#HPMLFW Seascape

Hello hello!

Long time no speak.. and for that I am very sorry, however I have been on Bridesmaid Duties so I am hoping the lack of posting can be forgiven! I also think it has injected some much needed creativity and excitement about Blogging back into me so tonight I will be getting my Blog on and finally getting around to telling you all about what I have been up to and some new things I have been trying!

Over the last week, I have been on the countdown to my Best Friend's Wedding where I was Maid of Honour.. cue some serious pampering to ensure I looked and felt my absolute best for her big day. I reached for some goodies that I was given from Seascape Island Apothecary at the Handpicked Media LFW event to spoil my skin ahead of the tanning, makeup and bright lights that were part and parcel of her wedding and I wanted to tell you all about them.

Hailing from the beautiful Island of Jersey, all Seascape products are paraben, silicone, petroleum and SLS free and are suitable for vegetarians. All products are also free from artificial colours and synthetic fragrances.

Inspired by the natural charm and simplicity of Jersey, Seascape Island Apothecary is a diverse collection of luxury bath & body products, featuring ranges for women, men and ‘les petits’. Each range features infusions of unique, hand-blended, natural essential oils for fragrance offering many therapeutic benefits, helping to balance personal care and wellbeing.

All ingredients used within Seascape products are sourced from ethical suppliers and their bottles and packaging are recyclable. Product cartons and gift packs are made in the UK by an FSC accredited, Carbon Neutral supplier.

So in summary these guys are good! The products are really gorgeous, luxurious but not overpowering fragrances and feel lovely on the skin. I was really impressed with how they applied and how my skin's condition improved over the duration of the week whilst I have been using them. I have used the body lotion and hand cream, along with the lip balm.

For anyone who may have accidently forgotten or not purchased a gift for mother's day yet then I would urge you to consider Seascape products as a treat for your Mum! They are stocked in various outlets so check out their website for an up to date list of where you can get your mitts on them!
