Meet The Master Spinner in Manchester

Manchester’s Spin Factory brings first Master Instructor to the city!

Manchester’s Spin Factory, the biggest Spinning facility in Europe, is going even bigger by bringing one of only a handful of Spinning Master Instructors in the world, to Manchester at the end of September for a series of special classes held at both its venues.

The Spin Factory, with PAYG sites in both the City Centre and at the Airport, are running two days of classes with Sarah Morelli, Master Instructor, set to challenge Spinners mentally and physically with the immersive Spinning Programme.

On the 25th and 26th of September, Morelli will be bringing her expertise to both sites to run limited classes for Manchester’s devoted spinners. Morelli, who has been a Master Instructor, the highest level of spinning instructor in the world since 1999 is excited to bring her knowledge to Manchester for the first time.

“I teach spinning because it makes me smile. It lets me let go of my day, and it allows me to help people. To me that’s what spinning is about, it’s about helping people to be fit, healthy and well, and that’s what I want to bring to Manchester.”

The Spin Factory is the biggest spin facility of its kind in Europe, with more than 60 bikes and 70 classes a week. The City Centre location is situated under the railway arches just a stone’s throw from Spinningfields (where else!?), it is already proving popular with city workers and dwellers alike. Sarah’s classes will be held here on Friday 25th September. Then she will be hosting two more classes on Saturday 26th September at the upmarket location near Manchester Airport, also the home to a Wattbike training studio.

Ross Sommers, Head Spinner of The Spin Factory says “This is a real treat for our members. Once you get in to spinning, it's hard to stop being into spinning. Spinners are always looking to push themselves further and get even better – and what better way to push yourself than by getting one of the top instructors in the world to put you through your paces?”

Bookings can only be made on the Spin Factory App where the whole Spin Factory Timetable can be found. Readers need to download the app on the App Store by searching Spin Factory. Regular Spinning classes available from £4 a class, and specialised cycle training on Wattbikes starts at £10.

For further information please contact Spin Factory direct or Ledigo PR.

Thumbs Up #2

Second post in the mini review series, here are my current faves!

Travalo Atomiser: Easy to fill, portable and good for freshening up!

Milkshake Conditioning Leave In Foam: I tried this out at Elegance Salon in Hyde and it is amazing if your hair is a little unruly like mine!

Clarins Aftersun: This stuff is the best of the best. A firm family fave, this will definitely be coming with me to Marbs at the end of September!

BlanX Whitening Toothpaste: I've been using this for a while now and I really like it.

Bare Minerals Pop of Passion Cheek Balm (Posy Passion): I was sent this for review for a couple of months back and I absolutely love it for a no makeup makeup look! It gives a fresh look with a nice pinky tone.

Essence Lipstick (07 Natural Beauty): For £1.49 this lipstick is AMAZING! I definitely want to get more shades, they are a lovely formula, colour and consistency and super cheap!

La Roche Posay Dark Circle Skin Evening Corrector: This stuff is unreal. As I have got older and dark circles have magically appeared, this stuff literally erases them before your eyes. Definitely worth a try :)

Manchester Eats: Love Pizza

LOVE PIZZA
Who doesn't love Pizza?!

I am hoping this post misses the beady eyes of my personal trainer because forgive me I have diet sinned!! :)

Love Pizza got in touch to tell me all about their concept; stone baked, handcrafted pizzas, delivered. Simple. As. Now, I will admit to being somewhat of a pizza snob, I feel once you go dominoes it can be quite hard to find a rival and let's just say, I FOUND ONE.

Me and my flatmate sampled a few of the dishes on the menu and each one was delicious, not too greasy or heavy and we were very impressed with the speed of delivery, professional appearance of the driver and seriously yummy food.

I also really liked how varied the menu was in terms of pizzas, sides, sweets and drinks which personally really attracts me to use Love Pizza again.

The pizzas are really fresh and obviously handcrafted. I think with the chains, in order to guarantee consistency and reliability of supplies ordering, it's very numbers driven and slightly McDonalds style 'fast food' with the least amount of human thought into the construction of the food as possible. Love Pizza really isn't like that. It's awesome pizza, delivered.

I would highly recommend you give them a go! :)

Protein Goals

In trying to overhaul my diet and break this weightloss plateau I am experiencing, I have tried to incorporate more protein into my diet through using protein powders and shakes.

Some of my favourites are from Smart Protein and the Protein Drinks Company. If I am making a protein including powder, I tend to mix in fruit and either coconut milk or almond milk and I have it either after training or for breakfast. If I need a quick boost before training, I find that the pre-mixed protein milks from the Protein Drinks Company are great.

There are so many stupid theories out there that protein drinks or powders are for body builders and make you bulk up and it couldn't be further from the truth! Protein is an important part of a healthy diet so don't be afraid to get involved!

How I stay organised

I am not naturally *that* organised (there, I said it) so I thought I would share with you some of the tricks and tips I use to try and keep on top of my shizz.

At work and at home I am a big fan of list writing. I'll be honest, I even sometimes write things down I have already done as it find it encouraging.

When you have a day job and a rather time consuming hobby, I find that carrying around a notepad to jot things down is super helpful. Through doing this, I can make my down time pretty productive and I try and keep a list of blog post ideas so I am not left without some content to post.

I also think you can't really predict when creativity will strike so rather than sitting aimlessly at my laptop, I tend to get things down on pen and paper and then type it up. This method is working really well for me so I'd definitely recommend it!

For my social calendar, I am very much a visual kinda gal, I have toyed with the idea of getting a filofax or planner, but I actually find using my outlook at work and iPhone calendar is helping me keep on track. I also have a super cute chalk board from Primark where on a weekly basis I can see what I am doing at a glance.

As I juggle appointments, social events, blogger events, gym and personal training sessions, the only way I make it all work is to plan things in. Obviously I can be spontaneous but I do like to be prepared and ready for what life throws at me!

I am one of the worlds WORST procrastinators and I have been known to colour coordinate my wardrobe instead of doing what I actually really needed to do. It's not my finest quality but it's something I am aware of and working on!

I also think to have a well balanced work/life you need to know that it's ok to rearrange plans or listen to your body saying it needs relaxation time. Some days I think to myself, do you know what Netflix and Chill is all I can manage tonight. More often than not, that's a Friday for me and rather than make myself overtired, I just roll with it :)

Me Time

Sometimes a girl needs some me time. As a full time worker, along with blogging in my spare time, I always make time to relax, unwind and pamper myself.

I'm not a huge fan of baths (I never know what to do in there?!) so for me, pamper time includes a long hot shower with lots of lovely scented products, a face mask and then hopping into bed to read a magazine. Bliss.

The lovely folk over at Victoria Plum sent me some pamper goodies as a reminder that we need to stop, and take a little R&R! If you are looking into new bathrooms then after a little nosy on the website I can confirm you will be in VERY good hands with Victoria Plum! Do not scrimp on chill time, it's really important to give yourself time to destress in order to remain healthy and happy, plus who doesn't love that warm and sleepy feeling after a bath or shower?! :)

Manchester Eats: Home Sweet Home and Bakeorama

Another of my absolute fave restaurants in Manchester is Home Sweet Home in the Northern Quarter.

Probably one of THE most instragrammable places in town, HSH almost always has a queue of people waiting to get a table and I must admit I have been known to get there for opening on a Sunday for breakfast as it's just SO GOOD.

One of the highlights of HSH is the Bakeorama Counter. You may well have seen pictures of these cakes as they are absolute works of art. I was lucky enough to get a bespoke creation for my 30th Birthday earlier this year, and people still talk about it and how they could 'just murder a piece of that carrot cake'. I mean anywhere that can put emojis on cakes is a winner for me, but if you do struggle to get a table at HSH, do not leave without takeaway cake!!!

The restaurant is super chilled and food is awesome. Not exactly the best for diets, but they will cater for whatever your preferences, so back in the day when I was being mega strict they made me the exact breakfast I wanted and it was yummy :)

If you live or are heading into Manchester then most definitely pay them a visit and you will feel right at home!

My ASOS Saved Items

Tunic Top // Flamingo Earrings // Leather Clutch // Bomber Jacket // Lace Up Tunic // PJs // Paisley Tunic // Lace Edge Culottes
Bit of a colour theme here isn't there?!

Here are my current loves from ASOS that are residing in my saved items in the hope that I randomly win the lottery.

I am loving tunics and shorts at the moment or paired with leggings and boots on the cooler days. The weather is a little hit and miss at the moment so the longer tops are great transitional pieces.

I also had to feature these adorable flamingo earrings and the whistles style clutch at a very reasonable price!!

What are you lusting after at the moment?

Mad Hatter's Tea Party

On Wednesday of this week I popped into the Alchemist on New York Street to sample some of their amazing cocktails.

We were first treated to a sharer cocktail, the Mad Hatter's Tea Party. Initially I was a little dubious as to what to expect as whilst I liked all the flavours, the fact it is served warm threw me off a bit!

Our showman bartender came over with what can only be described as a GCSE Chemistry Set, with accompanying miniature Bunsen burner. Our cocktail was heated, the liquid then moves into the top half of the equipment to infuse with the fruits. Once the heat is removed, the liquid then moves back down into the mixing jar, transformed into a fruity potion, then poured over dry ice to produce the mystical smoky effect.

After such a painstaking mixing process, I was excited to give it a taste and oh my sweet lord it was amazing!

First things first, it's not warm as in hot. It is room temperature and actually really does work very well. I genuinely don't think I would have liked it if it was cold.

Next up for me was the Solero cocktail which as the name suggests is like an alcoholic alternative to the summer ice creams. Clare had a Screwball informs me it was also delightful.

Before coming to the Alchemist on NYS, I had only ever been to the one in Spinningfields and that was years ago. It really is stunning inside with lots of fairylights (which we all know I am drawn to like a moth to a flame) and feels really cool and high end.

I would highly recommend a visit as it is a location that is suitable for any occasion. Intimate and relaxed for date night, fun and full of men in suits if you and your gal pals fancy drinks and dinner, but also comfortable and quirky for dinner with the parents or clients.

Thank you so much for the invite, I will definitely be back!

Life Lessons from Blair Waldorf

Hands up who is sad that Gossip Girl is over, with no hope of a come back. It's my most watched series on Netflix and the one programme that never gets old. My absolute favourite character is Blair Waldorf due to her amazing outfits, witty comebacks and general ballsy attitude. So this post plays homage to some of the life lessons Miss Waldorf taught us during her time on screen.

'Once men have tasted caviar, it baffles me how they settle for catfish.'

She absolutely has a point here. Some little chumps have a horrible way of just not knowing how good they have it. Do not accept this BS and wave good bye!!!

'I love you more and more every day if it's even possible to love someone that much.'

Chuck and Blair's love story used to make my heart jump into my throat. All consuming, passionate love is ALL you should settle for!

'I have an idea for you, quit. Your boss is a bitch. Let's go to lunch.'

Life is too short to tolerate something you hate. Granted the fictional cast of Gossip Girl didn't exactly need to work, but you get my drift. If you are unhappy with something then change it!

'Destiny is for losers. It's just a stupid excuse to wait for things to happen instead of making them happen.'

This is one of my faves. Self confidence is the absolute key and you and you alone are responsible for your happiness, so take control!

'If you really want something, you don't stop for anyone or anything until you get it.'

I don't need to repeat what she said. Life lesson, right there.

'Fashion is the most powerful art there is. It's movement, design, and architecture all in one. It shows the world who we are and who we'd like to be.'

I maybe don't take fashion quite this seriously, but I do agree that if you dress the part you feel the part.

'You need to be cool to be Queen. Anne Boleyn thought only with her heart and she got her head chopped off'

It's easy to be swept along by what the heart desires but always give things a sense check. If something doesn't feel right then don't ignore your head!

'Whoever said that money doesn't buy happiness, doesn't know where to shop.'

I could make myself really quite happy with the shopping budget Blair had!

'Here's my advice, have a little faith, and if that doesn't work have a lot of mimosas.'

If at first you don't succeed, regroup with your pals and get right back to it!

'If you are going to be sad, you might as well be sad in Paris.'

Blair was just so wise.

Not So Inferior Interiors

Primark Star Light // Huggle Up Retros // H&M Homewares // Primark Bedding and Picture // Urban Outfitters Lights, Chalkboard, Dreamcatcher and Dressing Table Glass Pot
This is probably the post my mum and sister have been waiting for, but don't hold your breath guys this isn't a tribute to Farrow and Ball paint!!!!!

When you are living in rented accommodation or at your parents, you can often be quite limited in terms of wall colours and furnishings as you kinda just have to roll with what you've been presented with. Here are my current faves for sprucing up a plain room without breaking the bank!

There are SO many places you can get cheap bits and bobs from, so I see a white, plain bedroom or room as an opportunity for the accessories to do the talking!

I pretty much buy all my bedding from Primark, it's cheap, cotton and at under £20 for a set you can't really go wrong. I personally have quite a neutral room as the walls and blinds are white, my bed frame is black and all the drawers and wardrobes are wood so I figured I would have to keep things quite neutral. The Primark Star Lamp is a recent addition to my room and I love it. At £10 it was a bargain and paired with some fairy lights gives a nice homely lighting to my room. I love the New York loft style décor and I think this fits in quite nicely!

I also have my Huggle Up prints on the wall and each day they make me happy. A collection of my instagram pics they are a mix of family photos, scenes and phrases that I like to motivate me. So simple, yet so effective. They are £12.50 for 20 retros (basically polaroid style) or you can get 44 mini ones for £12.50 too.

If you see those quotes in frames and think where on earth can I find one of those? Then look no further than Not On The High Street or Etsy. They can be a little expensive so I'd say if budget is something in mind then you can try and make it yourself! I have found wrapping paper I loved and just popped a square of it in a frame and it can be a super cheap way to get something up on the walls. That said, if you just CBA with the faff then I can highly recommend NOTHS or Etsy for some gorgeous prints and pictures!

I genuinely believe you are never too old for fairy lights and with Primark stocking a wide variety of types for £6 a set then you can sit in pretty lighting to your hearts content! :)

I love seeing people's bedrooms so tag me in your Instagram pics, I wanna see!!!

If you need some inspo then definitely check out pinterest and be prepared to lose a few hours...

#30PLUSBLOGS

Earlier this year I turned 30 and with that pivotal turning of age(!), I have to say I did feel a bit different!

Luckily, (sorry if I sound smug) I think I look quite young, but my interests and general perception of things have definitely matured a little.

In terms of blogging, I have thought to myself on multiple occasions, am I too old to be doing this? But then I remember that Beyoncé would never accept such rubbish and I shouldn't either. I love blogging, it is my passion and I have things I want to talk about.

That said, I must admit my tolerance to certain blogger behaviours is low, in particular (I have mentioned this before) the use of social media to start a very targeted and public spat with other bloggers. I have been shocked at some of the blatant bullying I have witnessed, both directly and indirectly and I just get tired of reading it. Totally appreciate if someone has done something to upset you, you have every right to challenge that behaviour, but do it offline, in a private way. Making it public means that everyone gets involved and it just becomes a virtual version of Mean Girls!

I feel like I am making a bit of a blogging transformation where hopefully my content should appeal to a wider range of ages, backgrounds and budgets. When Hayley (London Beauty Queen) originally tweeted about who was blogging and 30 years of age or older, I genuinely thought we would be few and far between. I am delighted to say there are really a lot of us and I think we are a blogging force to be reckoned with!

It is so nice to meet a group of similar aged, individuals with similar interests to me. I enjoy reading all types of posts, but as my career and life progresses, it's just as nice to read about bargainous beauty buys, alongside how to plan a baby shower or an expensive restaurant review.

I am really excited to be a part of a slightly older, technologically savvy, creative group and I think we will be an interesting platform for brands to collaborate with. As the digital revolution continues, I intend to be front and centre and enjoy all the amazing opportunities my blog pushes my way.

If you are 30 or above then get involved! Check out the website or twitter #30plusblogs chat and say Hi!

Manchester Eats: Yard and Coop

YARD AND COOP MANCHESTER
I was invited to the brand new Yard and Coop on Saturday to check out the newest addition to the Northern Quarter restaurant portfolio and I was not disappointed!

I headed there at lunchtime with my pal Clare, and we were talked through the menu and sizeable cocktail list! Clare opted for the thigh and sides whereas I went for one of the wraps.

We both tried a hard shake, me the Black Forest, Clare the salted karamel and oh my good lord. They were the most amazing drinks ever!!!!

The meals themselves were absolutely lovely, it can be hard to get breaded chicken right and I have to say it was delicious. More than anything I just loved the environment, it's really relaxed and fun and I will most definitely be back. The front bit is a bar with the larger areas in the back being predominantly for diners.

We had such a lovely time so thank you so much to the gang at Yard and Coop for inviting me :)

A New Look for SweetieSal

Welcome to the new look, sleek design of SweetieSal. I am beyond delighted with my new design brought to you by Pipdig!

Much as I liked my old style, I was getting increasingly bored with it, wanted something more professional looking and I think my blog encompasses a lot more than just 'Beauty, Fashion and Lifestyle' these days.

I'd like to write more about travel, food and events which I agree do fall within lifestyle, but that is very much where I see my niche being at the moment.

I massively enjoy fashion and beauty and will continue to write about those topics, but I am certainly no stylist or MUA and I have been feeling like calling myself a 'beauty blogger' is probably a little misleading, given that my experience in makeup and beauty is all self taught.

For me, I want SweetieSal to evolve into something slick and professional. Quality written content on a wide variety of topics. I ventured into YouTube because I felt pressured to do so and I personally don't think it is for me. It's too time consuming, soul destroying and ultimately that's not where my creative passion lies, so I have deleted my videos and I think I will leave that platform for my younger, more technologically able peers in the blogging world!

So, now it's over to you! What posts do you like reading the most? Are there any topics I don't talk about that you'd like me to or anything you think I currently do that is a snorefest? Please let me know and thank you for sticking with me :)
