Weekday Wishlist #13

MUA Constellation Beads £3, Different Dimensions Polish in 'On Wednesday's We Wear Pink, Black Score T-Shirt/Vest Totes Jel of My Chanel £35
I have been rather slack on my weekday wishlist's recently and they have been thrown into competition posts rather than enjoying their own separate glory.

I decided that this week I would get back to it and bring back the dedicated wishlist post. This week is a shorty (like meeee) and consists of 3 items.

Firstly we have the MUA Constellation Nail Beads which I am very excited about. They are a dupe of the Ciate sets that are £18 so I was most pleased to see that MUA have been able to bring them to the masses.. having seen the Ciate ones in action at a Selfridges event I love the effect but don't love their prices so much. MUA have introduced 5 colour options of the beads and they are available in store and online. It is such a simple yet pretty way to do nail art - I am 100% going to buy one of these, the only difficulty is what colour?!

Second item on the list is something I saw on Glitta Gloves and was in love.. this polish is divine! 'On Wednesday's We Wear Pink' is a tribute to Mean Girls (love it) and is a semi opaque pink polish with various shades and shapes of pink glitter. This has come from Different Dimensions which is Missy Barry's Etsy Shop. I am not 100% sure if she ships worldwide but if she does I am very tempted to get this! It is quite similar to the Nails Inc Sprinkles collection but I think there are so many beautiful colour options on here and they are CHEAP!

Finally we have the most coveted item on the wishlist. The Black Score LFW T-Shirt/Vest. Black Score handed these out at London Fashion Week, along with others that had 'You Had Me at Prada' and other designer related slogans. I think this is so cool.. tucked into a leather/pleather skater skirt with black tights and heels, would be an amazing outfit! WANT WANT WANT! These are £35 to purchase and come in Ladies or Men's so should fit all shapes and sizes!

What are you wishing for this week? Except for *no more rain* and maybe a canoe to travel anywhere?

Feelin' Hot Hot Hot and a Competition!

Zaggora Viva Hot Pants £50*
The title of this post is supposed to be ironic.. I am pretty damn sure we are cruising right into Winter now with no sign of the usual 'Indian Summer' or nice Autumnal days!

Today I am talking about my new best friends.. Zaggora Viva Hot Pants. Now I am sure you are aware that I was recently a Bridesmaid and when you hear bridesmaid you think.. Pippa Middleton's backside.. or is that just me?!

I wanted to lose a few pounds before I did the honours of being my friend's Bridesmaid so I started Weight Watchers in January and have combined that with getting my ass down the gym a little more often than I used to!

I have read a lot about Zaggora Hot Pants and as the time drew closer to the Wedding I wanted to see if I could up the weight-loss/toning ante. I was contacted by Zaggora to see if I wanted to try a pair and they very kindly sent me some of the Viva Hotpants to review.

Zaggora make some pretty serious claims in terms of toning abilities and weight loss so I was super keen to get these bad boys on and see what the fuss was about.

I was not disappointed!

'Specially designed with Celu-Lite technology fabric lining, HotPants™ enhance your natural body temperature to warm you up in the areas you want to target most (thighs, bum, and legs).

Tested at the Chelsea School at Brighton University, HotPants™ are proven to use your body heat to increase energy expenditure before and after exercise by raising your core body temperature by up to 18%. Since you’re heating up and your body is using more energy, you are burning more calories; calorie burn increases by 26% in the hour after exercise with HotPants™ too.  As we all know, as you burn calories, you lose weight.

The lab tests also demonstrated that in just 30 minutes of exercise, women lost 4x more weight with HotPants™ than they did when doing the same exercise in standard workout clothes.'

I can only describe the Hotpants as feeling like wet suit material. They are quite thick and are supposed to be fairly tight. In terms of sizing I got an XL and I do feel as though they are true to size.

I wore mine at the Gym with a big t-shirt and I don't think I got any strange looks at how bright they are! They just look like normal work out leggings. However one slight criticism I have is that the bright line down the crotch gave me some serious camel toe so I would check that out before you inadvertently wear a short top!

Also another thing to bear in mind.. they are quite noisy(?) if that makes sense? Because of the material they make like a whooshing noise if they rub together so if you are running for example you will hear the material rubbing together. Not a massive problem but if you go to a really quiet gym it might be an issue for you.

So results wise.. I reckon I lost a good inch all over my legs, stomach and thighs during the two week challenge which I was really pleased with. I went to the gym 3/4 times per week over that period and they do say just wear them round the house too which I didn't so I reckon I will up my wears per week to really feel the benefits!

My bridesmaid dress fit me nicely and whilst my booty is probably never going to rival P-Mid's I did feel that it was much better from wearing my hot pants!

I know that they are expensive and times are tough but I do feel like they are worth the money. I am definitely going to look into purchasing some of the other styles to wear for the gym just so I have a bit of variety!

And I am VERY pleased to tell you that I have 1 pair up for grabs for one lucky reader! All you have to do is tell me why you think you deserve the hot pants by commenting below, follow me on Google Friend Connect and on Twitter @sweetiesal by 12.00pm on Wednesday 4th October. I will check this has been done so do not try and cheat!

Weekend Mini Haul

Zara Bag £29.99, Broadway Real Life Nails - Petite Size £8, Primark Skull Scarf £3
This weekend I had the most blissfully quiet and unplanned couple of days and it was wonderful! Having been on bridesmaid duties the last couple of week's it was nice to not know on Friday night what my plans for the weekend were!

It did made me terribly indecisive about what I should do but I really liked just doing as I fancied!

I went to the cinema on Friday night to see Savages featuring Blake Lively, Benicio Del Toro and Salma Hayek which was really good. It was certainly an eye opener into the drug underworld in the States and at times it was quite gory but I enjoyed the storyline and also admiring how Blake Lively has the most gorgeously beachy hair... and 2 hot boyfriends in it!

Saturday included a jaunt to Manchester to see a friend for a coffee and also a couple of cheeky purchases.. firstly was the Zara Bag as pictured above. It is suede with a long strap with gorgeous beaded embellishment on it.. a steal I thought at £29.99! I have already had lots of compliments and it is literally the most perfect size - for day it fits all the essentials in and then some, and if you didn't over fill it for a night out it is great! I initially went into Zara to look for 'that' mock croc chain handled bag which the blogosphere seems to have gone wild over! Those bad boys are long gone though from the shops.. apparently you can only purchase that style online now (click here).

Next I treated myself to these falsies from Broadway Nails (petite size) from Boots. They were £7.95 and are absolutely perfect for my dinky nails! I always have to trim nails down to size, especially the little ones - but these fit my nails really well, and I only had to cut them down for my middle finger which is a first for me! The thinner white means that they look really natural and I am super impressed with them!

Finally I had a trip to Primark and whilst the store is a mess the new collections are really lovely. There are a few things I will definitely be making a trip back for such as a rather lovely navy duffle coat and some winter bits and pieces! I picked up one of the Alexander McQueen dupe scarves in maroon and black, a high low slouchy top in grey and some knickers which is pretty restrained for me! The scarves I was really impressed with - I have a real Alexander McQueen scarf that I compared it to and really the only difference is the fact it doesn't say Alexander McQueen on it! I really like it so have a feeling it will be worn a lot!

Any exciting purchases you have made this weekend? Tell me all about it!

Well I'll be dammed...

ASOS, Topshop, Miss KG, Swimwear365, Dorothy Perkins, F21, River Island
**This is a competition entry**
Another day, another blogging competition! They all seem to be holiday related.. can anyone tell I want/need a holiday?

This competition is centred around Amsterdam with the prize winner bagging themselves a trip to the 'Dam! Check it out here.

I have never been to Amsterdam so when I heard about this competition I jumped at the chance to get involved.

Going to Amsterdam has always been on my list of places to go, so I would love to be able to get my clogs on and have a little jaunt there! This is my Amsterdam look book for a weekend trip!

What has always attracted me to Amsterdam is the VERY wide variety of things on offer for tourists! I really enjoy sight seeing, shopping and partying and this is very much a place where you can do all three! I loved the Diary of Anne Frank and would undoubtedly have to go visit the museum, but I am equally as curious about the red light district so I couldn't go to Amsterdam and not pay a trip there to see what all the fuss is about!

My dream trip would start by checking in at the DoubleTree by Hilton Centraal Station which is fantastically situated to get around the city and take in everything it has to offer. All that's left to do is unpack my case and get ready for a cocktail or two...

I recently got sent a beaut of a little carry on suitcase by Swimwear365* which accompanied me on my work trip to Great Yarmouth! It is amazing, very light and durable, fits loads in and is easily recognisable on the luggage carousel!

As winter is fast approaching, my Amsterdam Style is based on mix and match options that will complement each other. Skirts and shorts paired with tights, leather style trousers that will work with the leopard print top for a night on the town or paired with the striped jumper and flat pumps for a shopping day.

The embossed leather bag from Topshop is the perfect size to accommodate a map for a day out, but also small enough to take out in the evening!

Throw in some killer heels and some sturdy boots, bobble hat and hand warmers and finally the incredibly popular khaki and leather sleeve anorak, and there you have a versatile weekend wardrobe for every occasion that might crop up :o)

Beauty and the Beach

The Beach at The Colony Club, Barbados
**This post is a competition entry**
I'm back in Great Yarmouth for work staying near the beach and it has occurred to me this is probably the last time I will see sand or a beach this year! *sob sob*

I was contacted about this Competition by Travel Supermarket and it is right up my street! The Beauty and the Beach Competition is for Bloggers to put forward their Beach Beauty looks and talk about how they style it up whilst beside the seaside.. so here's my take on looking hot on holiday!

Hair

Beachy Waves
Styled with the Enrapture Waver
Holiday hair can be super stressful especially in warmer more humid climates. I think the most important tip for this is to just work with what your hair is naturally.. curly, straight etc.

My hair is naturally wavy, but tends to frizz whilst on holiday. To counteract this, I ALWAYS apply hair oil of some sort to combat the frizzing and drying out that happens as a result of the sun and salt water. Check out this post for my top frizz fighters!

I then either use Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray applied to wet hair, scrunched in and left to dry naturally or I use the Enrapture Waver to achieve the beachy waves. Depending on how high or low maintenance you are, both achieve a similar result with really very little effort.

My holiday hair inspiration is Blake Lively. She never really looks that 'done' yet achieves a gorgeous relaxed vibe with her hair. Plaits and up do's can look so pretty on a beach holiday, so whilst you might not normally wear your hair up whilst at home - don't dismiss the idea!

Nails

OPI Pink Friday, OPI In My Back Pocket, Illamasqua Obsess, Maybelline Ceramic Blue
Holiday nails can really make your tan pop so I always opt for a pastel or a bright, depending on the general colour themes of the capsule wardrobe! I like to apply some clear gel to keep my nails nice and strong whilst away and that way you can apply what ever colour you fancy and can also have a colour change whilst away if you want to! Just don't forget the acetone free nail polish remover!

Here are some of my favourite colours, all look amazing and very long lasting so hopefully no chips! If you aren't so brave with polishing your own nails then I would highly recommend CND's Shellac which is a UV Cured Polish that lasts for approximately 2 weeks chip free. It comes in a variety of colours and is a nice little pre-holiday treat!

For toes, I have recently discovered the stick on french polished toe nails which have actually revolutionised my life! I LOVE THEM! I think french polished toes on holiday look really classy and go with every shoe option. Painting toe nails is a bit of a pain for me as my toe nails are rather small and then with the sand and going in the sea I always find they start to look a mess. Using the false toes means that they look nice and I don't have to worry about them! I applied some a couple of weeks ago now and they are still perfect! I haven't had to stick any of them back on and I will definitely be using them going forward. You can pick them up for under £10 from Boots.

Face

Natural Makeup..
Let the freckles show through!
As I have grown older, my makeup tastes have completely changed and now rather than hiding behind a mask of makeup I am much more attracted to a more natural look.

I have suffered with my skin (adult acne) in the past and holidays were always a bit of a nightmare for me as it meant *gasp* I had to be nearly makeup free during the day?! Now that it has calmed down a lot (oil free suncream for the face is a GOD SEND) I am finding that I am so much more comfortable in my own skin and I am happy for the freckles to show through!

I have recently made the switch to Bare Minerals Makeup and I cannot sing it's praises highly enough. It has SPF and has really changed and improved the condition of my skin. It also lasts fabulously and is pretty much perfect for my blotchy oily skin which I am thrilled with!

I like to have a bronzed holiday look and use the Bare Minerals foundation and 'warmth' bronzer where the sun would naturally hit my face. You can reduce how much you use this as your holiday goes on and you get your own tan! I always pencil my eyebrows as it frames my face, and apply a coral blusher -  I'm loving Nars Blush in Orgasm at the moment! I then use a black eyeliner (Nars Long Wear) and lots of black mascara  (Benefit They're Real) to accentuate my eyes and then lips is where I can introduce a bit of colour! I find that eyeshadows crease a little more on holiday, especially when you have more oil on your face so I tend not to bother with them. Lips however can be a great area to experiment with colour. I love to wear a coral lip (MAC in Vegas Volt) or a sparkly lipgloss is a really nice look too! (MAC On a Holiday)

So there you have it! I am not overly high maintenance on holiday, I just work with what I have and it makes for a much less stressful time. You are on holiday so really you should be out and about experiencing new things and environments! We all love having nice holiday snaps but I genuinely find the nicest ones are when I don't look too done, have a big smile on my face and am obviously enjoying myself :o)

Wedding Prep and Pampering!

Today's post will be short and sweet seeing as I am SO busy in the run up to my friend's wedding on Saturday!

I have been in the office only two days this week as I was recovering from the Hen Do in Majorca at the weekend and have numerous pampering activities on Thursday and Friday!

I am thrilled and slightly nervous about being a bridesmaid... luckily there are 7 of us so we have quite a nice group to feel like the eyes aren't just on one person! I need to do a face mask and a hair treatment, get my hair cut, go on a sunbed and have a spray tan all before Saturday morning! (making myself sound so high maintenance there!)

I am currently in the process of writing a post dinner speech which is proving to be quite surreal! I am normally all about the humour and trying to strike the balance of funny, sweet but not cheesy is really hard! Me and one of the other bridesmaids are making the speech so at least I have someone else to lean on. It's making it all so real and I can't believe it's this weekend! It's come around so quickly.

The Hen Do in Majorca was ABSOLUTELY hilarious. I can honestly say I laughed for 4 days straight and really had a fantastic time. The hotel was ahem.. interesting but it was those random occurrences that have contributed to the various stories we have from the weekend!

Due to the bridesmaid duties I have over the next 3 days I probably won't be able to post so much, but expect to hear a lot more from me from next week onwards! I am heading back to Great Yarmouth for work for a few days so I can get lots of content sorted ready for your reading pleasure :o)

Holiday Play List

What shall I put on the playlist?
One of the tasks I have to do this afternoon (in between packing!) will be to make the perfect, cheesy, hen-tastic playlist ready for hen antics tomorrow onwards!

I have a VERY eclectic music taste, so it's pretty much guaranteed that there will be a mix of old and new on there! Does anyone else feel a slight twinge of embarrassed panic when there is a suggestion to put your iPod on shuffle? I think it's actually a very personal thing, and I am often like NOOOOOOO at the mere suggestion we just put my iPod on random!

I am the kind of girl who will listen to rap, and then jazz, perhaps a show tune thrown in or something from the Disney album, so my iPod normally brings some laughs but also some excited looks of 'OMG not heard this song for ages!!!'

So what are your suggestions for the ultimate hen playlist? Help me out here people!!!

So far I have;

Selfridges: The Beauty Power List

Afternoon!

I simply had to share this event with you as I figured most would be as excited about this as I am.. Glamour is one of my favourite magazines and Selfridges is my favourite store to buy my makeup from so an event that combines the two is RIGHT up my street!

I will most likely be a bit loser-ish and will be all excited to see Jo Elvin and Alessandra Steinherr in the flesh, I have read Glamour religiously for years now and I think both Jo and Alessandra have taken Glamour to the next level in terms of content and reader engagement.

I am going to the event at Selfridges Manchester Trafford on Thursday 13th September as a nice little pre-wedding outing before bridesmaids activities formally commence on the Friday with a spray tan, nails appointment and general grooming and calming of the bride!

Now all that is left to decide it what to spend my ten pounds on?!

Are any of you coming to the event?
