Kara's Blow Dry Bar // Motives Event

Last night I attended an open evening at Kara's Blow Dry Bar in Manchester.

Having visited Kara's myself a good few times and been super impressed with the speed and service, I was excited to head down and see what hair-masterpieces were whipped up!

Kara's is situated on John Dalton Street in Manchester (a 2 minute walk from Kendals/House of Fraser) and offers blow dries and makeup! The Blow Dries are £18 for natural hair and £24 with extensions and there are a range of looks you can opt for.

Guests were treated to canapes from 47 King Street West, Sweets from Truly Scrumptious, Hair Products from TIGI and Make Overs using Motives products by Artiste Creative.

Kara's Blow Dries are probably the best I have ever had (and trust me I have sampled a few!!) they are super quick, last for a good few days and I think very good value for money. When I had my very long locks, they were the only place that could do anything with them and with hair as thick as mine, I consider it quite a talent to be able to tame it!

Artiste Creative were demonstrating Motives by Loren Ridinger products and some of the looks they created were incredible! Newly launched in the UK, Motives is the creation of american entrepreneurs, Loren and JR Ridinger. The product line is made by a number of manufacturers, so their claim to have formulated the best of the best in each product type has been made a reality.

I have had the opportunity to have a play around with the products and I am really very impressed with what I have seen so far. Check out the hashtag #motivesmavens on Instagram and be prepared to be blown away by some of the work undertaken by MUAs using the products!

I look at it as, if it is good enough for the Kardashian's, then it is most definitely good enough for me!

Peter Marcus Blow Dry Bar at Selfridges Exchange Square

A couple of weeks back I was invited along to sample a waterless blow dry/styling at the Peter Marcus Blow Dry Bar based in Selfridges Exchange Square.

I rather ridiculously forgot to take a picture of the finished result but I was so pleased with how it turned out! Using a BaByliss Pro Curl Tool, my hair was transformed into gorgeous waves, with some backcombing around the roots for volume.

Nestled on the third floor (on your left when you leave the escalator) the Blow Dry and Styling Bar is relaxing, rapid and professional. For days when you get an impromptu event invitation, need a pick me up during lunch time or if you want your hair styling pre-night out then head to Selfridges!

It is worth mentioning that at present it is a dry styling bar, your hair will not be washed. So if you are needing more than just a perk up of clean hair then this might not be the place for you.

The pop up Blow Dry Bar will be in store until 11th June and costs £10-£25 depending on hair length and desired style.

Appointments are not needed!

Top Notch Salon Launch

After a action packed weekend getting stuck in to the Manchester 10K, I was delighted to be given the opportunity to have a well deserved pamper on Monday evening at Top Notch Hair and Beauty, based in Eccles.

A short distance away from the Trafford Centre, Top Notch Salon covers all things hair and beauty, using top brands such as Lauren's Way Tan, Dermalogica and Gelish.

From first impressions, the salon is incredibly welcoming, the staff are friendly and you immediately feel at ease. I was whisked off for a blow dry first of all, using shine boosting products and some backcombing to give me the desired wavy hair!

I was then treated to a Lauren's Way Spray Tan using their super speed formula, taking just 2/3 hours to develop.

It was a really nice way to spend my Monday evening and I was really impressed by the salon, I am planning on heading back to get my pre-holiday pampering done in June!

My tan developed really quickly and I am really happy with the colour :)

So ladies and gents for all your beautifying needs, head down to Top Notch!

TGI Fridays Burger Blind Date

Hoping my PT Chris averts his eyes for this post.. (not the healthiest of meals I have eaten but MY GOD it was good!)

A few weeks back, TGI Fridays set me up with a hot date. A blind one.

Luckily I could take a pal along for moral support and we were first given the opportunity to have a few cocktails for dutch courage before reading about our potential matches!

The concept of the event was to introduce the new burgers on the menu and we could select based on reading a short 'profile' of each of the burgers and then made a decision based on what we read!

I picked out contestant 5 based on the french references, and a certain je ne sais quoi (who can resist the exotic european charms of the French?) I was served a burger with swiss cheese on it, onions and an accompanying pot of gravy! I don't eat bread, so the bun was redundant (apart from using it as a prop for my #burgerface photo) and I had a side of sweet potato fries.

I think this was a fantastic way of introducing the new menu options. I love the fun atmosphere of TGI Fridays anyway, but this event was so hilarious and a great opportunity to catch up with some of my fave blogger guys and gals from Manchester.

So if you are looking for a somewhere for dinner, definitely check out TGI Fridays Manchester and beyond!

Life Update!

I've been a really bad blogger. MIA since the beginning of May! Hopefully after this post you will understand why...

In early April my grandad passed away. It was a bit of a shock and a very upsetting time for all of the family so I've kind of been keeping my head down and cracking on with life. My grandad was an absolute legend and he really will be missed.

Next up I had the big flat move.. which has been a pain, the flat wasn't ready and we had to live without carpet for a couple of weeks and it was generally a bit of a nightmare. The majority has been sorted now though so feeling alot more settled and happier in the new pad!

The other big project I have had has been my Manchester 10K goal! I am delighted that I was able to complete the run in 1.5 hours :)

I have raised quite a bit for Francis House Children's Hospice but still not up to my £500 target, if you would like to donate to a fantastic cause, please visit my JustGiving Page. I chose Francis House to support as my Grandad would have wanted me to, it was a charity he wanted to help so I wanted to do what I could in his memory. The 10K was an incredible experience and I definitely want to try and better my time next year!

I've been thinking of what I want to achieve next goal wise, so will be revealing all in the next few weeks about my next project to work towards with my PT Chris at Elite Performance Fitness.

Hopefully my blogging routine will resume soon! I am off to Paris at the end of the week so I am sure I will have lots to tell you when I get back!

#WonderBlog

Currys #WonderBlog Competition
An invite to join the fun on this little competition popped into my inbox and I thought I would use the opportunity to enter, but also to give one of my favourite bloggers a shout out.

This competition aims to spread the word about what blogs other bloggers read and mine is undoubtedly, Tanya Burr's Blog.

I think this competition is actually a really nice idea. The Blogosphere can be a competitive place and to just simply congratulate another blogger on a job well done is something I like to do. We all know how much of our hearts and souls go into our little corners of the Internet, so why not make our appreciation known?

As a part of the competition, winners can land themselves a new desktop PC and I have eyed up this whizzo piece of technology that I think would help me take my blog to the next level.

I really admire Tanya Burr as I think she strikes the perfect balance of being fun, informative and true to herself in her blog posts and videos. Sometimes there is the temptation to just get swept up in the product placement that comes along with being sent bits and pieces to sample, but I respect that Tanya obviously features and talks about what she actually likes. For me, Tanya feels like a friend who I would get beauty tips and tricks from, but also someone who I just like hearing what they have been up to!

Even if I don't win the competition, I do think you should all check out Tanya's Blog if you haven't done so already :)
