#MCRFW14

Exciting news!

So, as some of you might be aware if you follow me on Twitter, I have been out and about gallavanting with the Manchester Fashion Week lot, attending meetings, hearing top secret info about what is lined up and generally getting excited!

So, it gives me great pleasure to be able to FINALLY confirm the dates and venue of Manchester Fashion Week 2014!

The main event will be a series of fashion shows spanning four days over the Bank Holiday Easter weekend.

Comprising of independent fashion designers, graduates and leading names in the fashion world, Manchester Fashion Week (#MCRFW14) will take place over 18th- 21st April at Hallé St Peters, Ancoats, during which the best of what Manchester has to offer in fashion will be on show, putting the city firmly on the fashion map.

Among the headline partners already confirmed are the Radisson Blu Edwardian Hotel, Manchester and The Milton Club who are lined up to host the after-show parties during the four days. Models for the shows are being provided by Manchester-based agency, PHA Models, with hair team supplied by Redken.

Anna Gledson, Event Director at Manchester Fashion Week (#MCRFW14) said:
"We’re really thrilled to be back and we’re already receiving a great response from others in the city who are equally excited. We’ll be showcasing some of Manchester’s hidden fashion gems, revealing some incredible undiscovered talent and giving these young designers a platform to elevate their designs within the fashion world. Manchester Fashion Week (#MCRFW14) is all about providing opportunity, and going forward we hope to give others the chance to get into the fashion industry, starting right here in Manchester.”

Martin Glyn, Project and Events Manager at Hallé St Peters, commented:
"We are looking forward to hosting Manchester Fashion Week (#MCRFW14) at Hallé St Peter's this Easter. Ancoats has always been central to the cotton industry in Manchester, and indeed the UK, so it feels entirely fitting that this year's event should be staged here. It will be the first event of it's type in the space and we look forward to welcoming the designers, models and all of the guests.”

Anna heads up the team, consisting of ten employees, both full time and on an intern basis, based in central Manchester.  Schedules and further sponsorship deals will be announced over the coming weeks.

Tickets for each of the shows will be available from TicketWeb from March. For more information on tickets, visit www.ticketweb.co.uk or contact info@mcrfw.com

Fresh Laces x Harvey Nichols Manchester

Today I headed over to the Fresh Laces Event at Harvey Nichols Manchester, where sneaker enthusiasts from the North West could come together and look at a special collection of rare kicks, customisation, art and everything associated with the ultimate in comfort footwear!

Visitors were treated to some seriously great music and could check out all of the brands showcasing during this pop up shop event.

I'm not a huge sneakers wearer myself, apart from at the gym, but even I was tempted by some of the above beauties! The nude and neon pink pair were my faves!

It was really fun to do something a bit different with my Friday so big thanks to Fresh Laces for inviting me along! :)

A Jumper from Joules

Nautical Inspired Knit from Joules: £69.95*
I think this is the perfect time to post this little tribute to my new Joules Jumper!

I was recently contacted by the lovely people over at Joules to see if I wanted to have a look through their extensive collections and pick something out to style up. I selected this amazing nautical style, breton stripe jumper as it fits in nicely with other bits and bobs I have in my wardrobe and is also a nod to my favourite Parisian style stripy top look!

The first thing that struck me when it arrived was how amazingly heavy it was - the knit and fabric are obviously such high quality and I absolutely adore it! I planned to photograph myself in it yesterday but after a rather heavy night on the sauce on Saturday night, my face was not fit for public viewing!!! Oops.

I paired it with black leather look leggings and my ankle boots from Zara, it was comfortable but still looked nice for my lunch date with the girls! This is such a versatile piece as you really could wear it with a variety of different things! I have been eyeing up the red skort from Primark as I thought the jumper would look cute paired with the red, but you could also throw it on with jeans or black trousers and it will look like the perfect in between of relaxed and polished!

It may have to squeeze it's way into my Paris capsule wardrobe, as today I have been notified that I won a trip to Paris!

If you are looking for some staple knit pieces then definitely check out the jumpers and cardigans from Joules!

It's really been a great day... :)

Ugh, As If!

Crochet Collar Jumper: ASOS, Too Faced Blush Pearls: ASOS, Oversized Pastel Blue Jumper: ASOS, Gold Loafers: Gap, Pink Leather Bag: Gap, Yellow and Gold Watch: ASOS
I heart Clueless... and Gossip Girl, and Mean Girls. Basically anything that is super girly to watch, so when I saw pastels were back in there on the current shades du jour I was quite excited!!

Seemingly every blogger, fashionista and general girl about town has got her perfectly pastel, manicured mitts on 'the' statement pastel piece, which is undoubtedly the pastel coat.

I really wish I wasn't as clumsy as I am, as I am seriously all over this pastel coat trend but my ability to get things dirty means it's probably not a wise investment.

This is where the above items come in! Wearing pastels is way more doable than just jumping on the coat bandwagon so I will giving my nod to pastels by incorporating the shades into accessories, clothing and nails!

I was very kindly sent some of the new Models Own HyperGel polishes to try, along with a couple of colours from the Topshop Nails new intros and I absolutely love them all!

If you aren't brave enough to wear full pastel, wearing it on your nails makes it a much easier trend to partake in.. :)

Remember ladies, on Wednesday's, we wear pink!

The Perfect Paleo Steak Frites

**This post is a competition entry**
I recently got an exciting little email in my inbox telling me all about SuperBreak's Paris Blogger Competition! I absolutely adore Paris and went with my bestie this time last year, so I was super keen to potentially win the opportunity to go again!

The competition is to create the perfect Valentine's Meal idea and as all of you are aware, I am currently working my butt off at the gym and mainly eat a paleo diet. I thought I would, in true french style, create a paleo steak frites menu with sweet potato chocolate brownies for dessert.

Steak frites is what I sampled in Paris and learned to really appreciate having my steak on the rarer side. I would cook the steak in kerrygold butter turning it over approximately every 60 seconds so that all the juices stay in the steak. Now obviously some of you will prefer a more well done steak so cook the meat through to your preference.

For the frites, I have found a lovely low carb alternative using carrots. If you chop the carrots into chip like pieces, drizzle them in olive oil and season with salt and garlic seasoning and then bake in the oven at about 200 degrees for 30 minutes, you get some really tasty chips.

You could also serve wilted spinach and a portobello mushroom along with your steak frites too!

Parfait!

Now.. dessert time.

These brownies are THE best discovery I have made since starting to experiment in the kitchen. They are deliciously indulgent but without the guilt of normal brownies..!

Ingredients

1 medium sweet potato, grated
2 eggs
2 tablespoons vanilla essence
1/2 cup of honey
1/2 cup of oil (almond / coconut / olive)
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 cup cocoa powder
1/2 cup coconut flour
Dark Chocolate Chips

How to make
  1. Preheat the oven to 185 degrees C. Make sure the oven is hot before putting the brownies in.
  2. Mix the sweet potato, eggs, vanilla, honey and oil in a large bowl. Then add baking powder and cocoa powder until well mixed.
  3. Add in the dark chocolate chips plus any additional ingredients you wish to add. I added raspberries in, and then have also made a variation of these brownies using frozen cherries, almond essence instead of the vanilla and almond flakes. Then finally stir in the coconut flour bit by bit so that they do not get too dry.
  4. After everything is well mixed, pour the mixture into a shallow tray. Make sure you grease it well so that the brownies don't stick. Oven cook the brownies for approx 30 minutes and leave to cool before serving.
Serve with ice cream if you are feeling sinful after your saintly meal, or total 0% greek yogurt!

Super easy to make, yet impressive.. :)

John Frieda: Sheer Blonde Collection

John Frieda Sheer Blonde Collection
As someone who *regularly* colours my hair and is a bit precious about it, I love trying out new Shampoos and treats for my barnet.

I was recently given the opportunity to try John Frieda's newest offering in the Sheer Blonde collection and I have to say I am really impressed as always! They have a gorgeous smell and do exactly what they say on the bottle.

I felt that these products really nourished my hair and helped 'lock in' the blonde. I have since darkened my hair a bit to get a Kardashian style ombre effect and I think the fact I have used the Sheer Blonde products consistently, means that I have been left with hair that still looks shiny since making the transition back to brunette.

I'd really recommend these products so keep a look out for them in your nearest supermarket or drugstore!

January Favourites 2014

Good evening!

So I have made a commitment to myself that I will do a monthly favourites post. It seems a popular topic and I think I need to give myself the challenge!

This month has been filled with new discoveries for me and each item on here is something I had not really used a lot until this year!

So here goes;

Laura Mercier Creme Brulee Candle/Body Cream: I received the Creme Brulee Gift Set for Christmas off my Mommy and I am OBSESSED with the smell. It is very sweet and smells good enough to eat, so as I have reined in my eating again this January I have smothered myself in this as a sweet treat! The candles are also amazing - mine is nearly used up already but it is the most beautiful smell! It has given me hours of enjoyment :)

Models Own HyperGel Gel Effect Polish*: I love the pastel trend that is out there at the moment so as soon as I saw these bad boys I was in love. They apply beautifully and the colour options are incredible!

Jo Malone Vanilla and Anise Fragrance: I had the body cream of this fragrance and have had a bit of a love affair with it! Quirky and sweet, I think this is a really unique scent and one I am sure I will be wearing for a long time and repurchasing!

Toni and Guy Hair Meet Wardrobe Rough Texturiser Spray: Ok. This one is a biggie. I got my first bottle of this in December and I think it has swiftly become one of my all time fave hair products and I am on my second bottle of the stuff already. I can only really describe this as being the perfect product to use when your hair goes a bit 'meh' and flat after washing, especially if you have straight hair like mine. It 'fluffs' it up amazingly without weighing it down, it smells gorgeous and I am all round a super fan of the Toni and Guy Hair Meet Wardrobe products now. They are currently on offer for 3 for £12 in boots which makes them a BARGAIN! Please try them as they have a collection for each type of hair look you are going for and I cannot recommend them enough!

Real Techniques Fine Liner Brush: I have been really enjoying using this with my next favourite on the list! The Motives Gel Eyeliner. Since watching a fair few of Tanya Burr's YouTube Videos, I have given the whole gel liner thing another whirl and have been loving the effect. I don't really do the whole winged liner thing as I am not very good at it, but a thin line, close the lash line is a lovely look for day time and one I have been really enjoying. The brush is perfect for this liner, picks up enough of the product and is supple enough to apply a nice line, but also stiff enough so not make a mess on your eyelid! I am hoping to get my mitts on the silicone eyeliner brush from Real Techniques soon as I think that will be an incredible brush to add to my collection!

Motives Gel Eyeliner and Brow Kit: I have been using Motives products since hearing about them from my love of the Kardashian's! Loren Ridinger (Kim K's BFF) fronts this makeup brand and it is absolutely incredible. I am always impressed with each of the bits and bobs I have tried and I think the quality of the products is outstanding. The eyeliner as I said above is by far the best I have used. I've tried the Bobbi Brown one and this beats it, hands down. It is super pigmented, easy to apply and long lasting. The brow kit is also another favourite of mine. I have become quite brow obsessed and I feel like I am finally getting the kind of brows that I always wanted! I have them waxed and then use the Motives kit to fill them in and I can honestly say it makes such a difference to how my makeup looks. I have been so impressed by Motives, I have added a link to the online shop in my pages navigation at the top of the page! Check it out and I apologise now for any impulse purchases you make... :)

What have you been loving this January?
