MAKEOVER AT SELFRIDGES


Oh heyyyyy... so a couple of weeks back I headed to a super swanky party for Ledigo PRs 3rd Birthday and I needed to get my glam on.

Selfridges Beauty Hall were my fairy godmother on the day and I had my hair curled at GHD and makeup by the amazing Jemina at Illamasqua who managed to give me exactly what I wanted despite my very vague brief.

I was thrilled with my makeover and really want to thank you to the lovely ladies at GHD and Jemina for making me feel amazing. I will 100% be back in for more pampering!!!!

CROC COUTURE


I truly never thought I would see the day...

Crocs, Inc. announced their first runway collaboration with award-winning British designer Christopher Kane at London Fashion Week 2016. The collection of bespoke, limited edition Crocs shoes debuted on the catwalk for the brand’s SS’17 London Fashion Week show.

Christopher Kane’s signature of constant innovation and rebellious femininity perfectly complements one of Crocs’ core brand values of celebrating individuality. The pairing of these values was unveiled on the catwalk at The Tate Britain, as a bespoke collection of limited edition Crocs shoes were unveiled as part of the Christopher Kane SS’17 Womenswear collection.

The iconic Crocs Classic Clogs come in a special marble print (in green, blue, orange and brown), as well as high shine plain colours in rich earthy tones, and embellished with beautiful natural gemstone Jibbitz (shoe charms), especially created by the brand for this collaboration.

The marble print feels very earthy and I often think of Crocs shoes in a very grounded way, worn with either an evening dress or with jeans, and adding the rock crystals brings a bit of luxury to this everyday style. Crocs are arguably the most comfortable shoe, and I love that they are slightly awkward and might be perceived by some as ‘ugly’. LADYZONE

LADYZONE ALTRINCHAM
Sometimes it's nice to just feel like you aren't being gawped at in the gym so when I heard about LadyZone in Altrincham I really liked the sound of an all female dedicated destination for fitness, health and beauty.

I booked in for a massage and found myself in the cutest girly haven in Goose Green in Altrincham and had half an hour of bliss. I really liked that it is both a gym and spa all under one roof so you can treat yourself after a workout ;-)

I loved my time there so definitely check it out if you want somewhere small but perfectly formed to work out and spoil yourself too.

MAGICAL MOONDUST

When this bad boy dropped through my letter box I actually squealed with excitement as it's JUST. SO. BEAUTIFUL. AND GLITTERY!

I think Urban Decay have basically won at palettes this year and this is my ultimate fave of faves. I love glitter and shimmer (just like a magpie with shiny things) and the shadows in this palette are absolutely incredible. Surprisingly versatile, you can achieve a pretty day look as well as some seriously sassy smoky nighttime looks plus some colourful festival looks too!

Winner all round... On my selfie I have used lithium all over the lid and highlighted my brow bone with specter, I then smudged some galaxy on my lower lash line.

WORKOUT BOOSTING FOODS


When it comes to getting the most from your workout, food is crucial. Whether you’re doing an intense cardio session or strength training with weights, if you work out on an empty stomach, you’re not giving yourself the fuel to power on through and exercise to the best of your ability. You should think of food in relation to exercise like petrol in a car. You wouldn’t drive your car without petrol – doing so, wouldn’t get you very far and could damage your engine. So why exercise on empty too?

There are some foods that contain the all-essential nutrients you need to really get the most out of your workout. Here are the some of the best.

It’s important, though, to remember to have any pre-workout meal one to two hours before you exercise. Eating too close to your workout doesn’t give your body time to digest and metabolise your food, which can lead to stomach cramps. And that’s the last thing you want when exercising.

Carbohydrates 
Before your workout you need energy, and this is what foods rich in carbohydrates can give you. The best type of carbohydrate is a slow-digesting one. Slow-digesting carbs are ideal because they don’t just provide a good source of energy, preventing your body from tapping into muscles for energy, they also sustain you throughout your whole workout.

Foods high in slow-digesting carbohydrates include brown rice, wholegrain bread, sweet potato, oatmeal, and whole wheat pasta.

Protein
The building block of new muscle growth, protein is essential before a workout. It contains essential and non-essential amino acids that can improve energy. This fuels your muscles during your training and stimulates the process of protein synthesis – a biological process in which individual cells build their specific proteins.

Protein-rich foods include chicken, turkey, tuna, egg whites, and Greek yoghurt.

Fruit 
So you’ve got your protein and slow-digesting carbs, now you need some fast-digesting carbohydrates to give you a quick additional burst of energy. This is where fruit comes in handy. A piece of fruit can give you energy quickly and really kick-start your workout session. The glucose (sugar) in the fruit is also steadily delivered to your muscles while you exercise, helping to prevent muscle fatigue.

Good choices of fruit are oranges, bananas, apples, raspberries, and watermelon.

These are just some examples of foods that can give your workout a boost and help you feel the full benefits of your training session. However, if you’re exercising for a particular reason, such as to lose weight, put on muscle, or hit a certain fitness target and you want to know what foods will help you meet your goals, it’s a good idea to speak to a nutritionist.

A professional nutritionist from a medical health centre, such as The Wilmslow Hospital, can discuss your fitness goals and medical history with you. They can then put together a balanced diet that’s right for you to meet your health and fitness goals successfully.

There's no point wondering what is right for you when there are experts who can do the hard work for you :)

THE PRE-HOLIDAY BEAUTY TREATMENT YOU NEED

LVL BY NOUVEAU LASHES
Okay, okay. I know I have talked about LVL before as being THE lash treatment you need before hols or basically any time.

As you may know I work with Nouveau Lashes as a part of their #LashGang but I've been hooked on this for MANY years and I want the whole world to know about it! Working with what mother nature gave you, this treatment isn't extensions, just your very own lashes, lifted and looking their very very best.

It's a relaxing treatment taking up to 45 minutes that involves lifting your lashes from the root to give you that wide eyed fluttery lash look without the maintenance of individual lash extensions. I have to admit, having had the individual lashes before I cannot fault them and if you like having more volume added then I would also highly recommend them. With LVL your lashes, once lifted, are then tinted leaving you with perfect lashes from the minute you wake up.

What I especially love about this treatment is that you don't really have any point where they are past their best. Your lashes shed naturally and the lift gradually drops a bit but I'd say you are good for at least 8 weeks. I actually prefer them when they have dropped a bit as get some Benefit They're Real Mascara on them and WOWZERS! No need for falsies!!!

For my most recent set I visited the super cute Beauty Guru at Media City and was absolutely blown away with what an amazing job Sam did. I would not hesitate to recommend Sam so get yourselves booked in you will not regret it!
