#SORRYNOTSORRY

I have neglected my blog and fitness for about a month now and it's time I got back on the straight and narrow. I'm not overly bothered about it as I think it's important to take a break once in a while, regroup and come back stronger and more motivated and that is exactly what I have done.

I had got to the point where the gym was a chore and I wasn't enjoying it, I wanted to let my hair down a bit and I think if I had carried on trying to be so strict I wouldn't have been able to sustain it.

There has been a lot of 'weight' and 'size' related topics being thrown around social media these last few weeks and quite honestly I got a bit sick of it and it left me feeling a little demotivated. Specifically, when I read what Jamelia supposedly said on Loose Women, I was frankly appalled. To say that people of certain sizes should have to shop in 'specialist stores' is unbelievable in this day and age.

I thought segregation was a thing of the past and here is someone who is trying to encourage that very thing, I have to admit I didn't see the clip and I am only going off what I have read on social media but I wholeheartedly disagree.

I don't think that catering for the larger sized person encourages obesity AT ALL. That is as silly as saying that carrying small sizes encourages eating disorders? There are a million reasons why a person will be the size they are and some people (me included) find losing weight difficult as genetically things aren't really on their side.

I spent a long time being incredibly controlled with my diet, not drinking, exercising 4+ times per week and not seeing the results that someone else with better metabolism might see so it's inevitable that at some point the demotivation takes over and reading rubbish like that really annoys me.

Anyway, I will get down from my high horse now as I have realised that there is literally no point getting upset by foolish people who are making sweeping generalisations. I have decided that I am not going to be super strict and I want to be fit and healthy for me more than anything. My diet will continue to be relatively clean but I am not going to compromise my social life and mental wellbeing for the sake of trying to live like an athlete all of the time. Food is fuel but it's also a social thing, enjoyable and sometimes a treat!

I am once again taking part in the Manchester 10K in two weeks time in aid of Francis House and I have many more active things I want to do over the summer!

Who is with me? :) #THISGIRLCAN

A 'normal' blogging routine will also resume from this week, I have got the bug back!!!

Smooth for Summer!

Ladies and gents, the sun is out and it's the time of year when you can bare a little skin.. as you may have read, I have been kindly invited to sample the treatments available at The Brazilian Waxing Company in Manchester.

Approximately 6 weeks after my first bikini wax, I headed back for another grooming session and I will be honest I was still quite nervous even though I knew what to expect.

I was greeted by Martina in reception and shown through to the private waxing pod and asked to strip down on my lower half and cover up with the towel. All usual and standard waxing practice! I am probably biased now as I have never experienced any sort of waxing treatment elsewhere but I can genuinely say I see no reason why I would ever go any where else!

One of the main selling points for me is how fun(!) and friendly the salon is, which I think is incredibly important when you are essentially getting everything out for a complete stranger. I am sure you are thinking how on earth can a wax be fun and I don't mean the actual wax but the experience is a combination of gritted teeth and laughing and it makes something that could be quite awkward into a quite funny twenty minutes.

My first laugh was when I admitted to Martina that I was a bit nervous and she calmed me right down by telling me she had probably seen thirty vaginas that day! I won't go into the gory details but we had a nice chat, and yet again I was treated professionally, quickly and almost painlessly. I'd be lying if I said it doesn't hurt at all but it's not an unbearable pain as it's all so quick.

I think the Brazilian Waxing Company have got their offering spot on, and both times I have visited I have been pleasantly surprised by the experience. They are absolute experts in the art of waxing but there is also the fun factor in that it's relaxed and you can have a good chat with your therapist!

Huge thumbs up from me and seriously lads and ladies, get yourselves booked in! You will not regret it!!!

Festival Wish Listing...

Chiffon Longline Top - Pretty Little Thing // Fringe Boots - Pretty Little Thing // Emoji Shorts - Primark // Printed Shorts - ASOS // Beach Smock Dress - ASOS // Emoji T-Shirt - Primark // Cage Shoe Boots - New Look
Anyone else who is heading to a festival this summer can't help but start feeling excited and outfit planning...!

I know I am biased, but PLT is completely killing it at the moment and each day I see something lovely uploaded to new in I have to fight the urge to whip out my credit card... :)

I couldn't help but pop some emoji items in there with me being borderline OBSESSED. I think these are pyjamas but I would totally wear these in the summer, perhaps not all together but definitely as separates!!

I'm off to Parklife for the weekend this year and I am really looking forward to it! Which festivals are you guys off to?
