Style Sunday: Gothic Glam

Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 2
In the run up to #MCRFW 13 I am going to be writing some posts about fashion!

This week's Sunday Style theme is Gothic Glam.

The trends this season are very gothic focused with an abundance of crosses, leather, lace, black, jewel tones and textures. I went to see Twilight Breaking Dawn Part 2 today and that has very much inspired today's post!

Kirsten Stewart looks pretty damn gorgeous as a vampire and her flowing dark locks, dark eyes, some incredible lashes and plum lips are stunning. I will definitely be trying to recreate her makeup look this winter!

From a wardrobe perspective here is my take on Gothic Glam from the high street...

Shoe Boots: ASOS, Wolf Knickers: Topshop, Oxblood Velvet Skirt: Topshop, Fur Collar: Forever 21, Gothic Clutch: River Island, Cross Earrings: ASOS, Navy and Black Brocade Dress: Dorothy Perkins, Nail Polish in Bahama Mama: Essie, Lipstick:Illamasqua, Shirt: Dorothy Perkins
I think the gothic trend is fabulous in winter and very easy to achieve with only a few strategic purchases. Adding a fur (faux of course!) collar or snood is a very quick way to glam up your winter wardrobe and you don't have to spend a fortune. Having a variety of textures in your wardrobe adds to the luxe feel of the season and trend but doesn't have to be too out there. You can still wear a fairly classic outfit but pop a velvet skirt in to the mix, a cranberry nail and/or lip, throw on some gold jewellery and you are rocking the goth!

People tend to be a bit hesitant about the gothic trend as they just immediately think oh it's a bit Morticia Adams/Emo/Goth Teen/Black Hair etc etc etc which yes there is that side, but the high street has made it much more accessible.

The Twilight phenomenon and society's new found obsession with Vampires means that this trend has become extremely popular.

You can pledge your allegiance to Team Edward or Team Jacob if you so wish if you get yourself one of these t-shirts!

Manchester Fashion Week will take place in the last week of March 2013. It will showcase well known brands alongside Manchester based designers and is set to be a fantastic week!

I cannot wait to get involved and bring all the news to you throughout the week. The Organisers have promised that #MCRFW 2013 is going to be bigger and better than ever!

So who's going to come down and show your support?
