Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween to my lovely readers.. hope your day has been suitably sugar filled and you have eaten your body weight in treats!

I don't normally like anything too scary so my evening has consisted of watching anything completely unrelated to Halloween.. such as Girlfri3nds! I can't deal with scary films so I tend to avoid them like the plague as I end up having nightmares and over thinking them so yeh.. not a good idea!

Going to a Halloween Party at the weekend and still have no idea what to wear.. I am hoping inspiration hits over the next few days.. but feel free to give me some ideas on here!

Have fun :o)

Weekday Wishlist #15

Office Flatforms, Topshop Dweeb T-Shirt, River Island Ooops Jumper, Topshop Boutique Dress, Forever 21 Quilted Jacket, Matalan Kilt
Hello hello!

I am on a complete blogging spree at the moment! It's such a relief to have my blog whilst I am unemployed as it gives me something fun to do whilst I am job hunting and I can finally get myself into a routine with it and also get some reviews and posts up that I have been meaning to do for ages!

I have got myself into the habit of writing my wishlist posts and I will be honest.. it is hard doing this whilst I am sat here with no job and no way of being able to go out and buy any of this stuff. I totally would not go and buy all this stuff willy nilly but I have always worked so hard and like to treat myself so it's a bit depressing when I don't feel in a position to be able to do so.

Anyways.. keeping a positive mental attitude that I will get a new job soon, here is this weeks wishlist!

First we have these amazing wedges from Office that are £50. I am loving wedges at the moment as they are such an easy heel to wear.. especially when you are a terrible heel wearer such as myself! I love the studded detail on these and think they would look equally as fab with tights and dresses/skirts or leggings! I may have to go try these on and if they are as lovely as I suspect they are they may have to go on my Christmas list!

Next up is the Dweeb T-Shirt from Topshop.. you might have seen the Geek T-Shirt on an earlier wishlist and this is the new version with an updated retro word of abuse? If you can call it that! I probably wouldn't rush out to buy this if I had the money but I think it is pretty cool. If one was launched with Nerd on it I might not be able to hold back...

In third place is the River Island Oooops Jumper which is about £30ish if I remember correctly! As with the Dweeb T-Shirt.. probably wouldn't buy it but I think it is brilliant!

Number 4 is this BEAUTIFUL dress from Topshop Boutique. I love the shape of this so much but not the price.. I think it is about £70 from memory and in all honesty I just don't think it is worth it! I would happily pay £40 maximum as it looks pretty flimsy but I do get slightly miffed when Topshop does this. I love it but the price point is all wrong. I can't imagine many people would spend that kind of money on such a plain item! Anyway rant over and I'm probably being so mardy about it as I want it and I can't justify getting it!

I have popped this little jacket from Forever 21 on my wishlist too as I really like it, it looks kind of Chanel style and I think it's nicely plain and would go with alot in my wardrobe!

Finally I have seen this kilt from Matalan at a bargainous £14 and I love it! I have always really liked little skirts like this as with me being on the short side and the shape I am, I just suit skirts or leggings way more than jeans or trousers! It's very rare to ever see me in trousers!

What's on your wishlist this week? Tell me in the comments I always love to know! :o)

A Place I Go

Ok, so I know that I am no music buff by any means and it's not a usual topic of conversation on my blog, but this is precisely why I didn't want to pigeon hole myself into any genre, I want to be able to talk about what interests me at the moment and today it is music and more specifically Tyler James' album, A Place I Go.

Tyler James if you don't know of him has been round a good while trying to make his name in the music business. A close friend of the late Amy Winehouse, Tyler went on to appear on BBC's The Voice, was mentored by Will.I.Am and was a runner up to Leanne.

I downloaded his version of Higher Love when The Voice was on and my love affair with Mr James began! He has that tortured soul look and sound... one of those that you feel just needs a big hug!

When he released his first single a couple of weeks ago called A Single Tear I downloaded that too and his voice is literally mesmerising. It has one of those rare, sad and almost haunting tones and I think his music is amazing.

So moving on to the album.. I downloaded that last night and having listened to it once today I am hooked! It is incredible! There are a few covers thrown in there but completely reconfigured so they sound very unique to Tyler.

If you want a new easy listening album then I would highly recommend you give it a listen, it is definitely a new favourite of mine and I can imagine I will probably be obsessed with it for a good few weeks..

On the album you also get a couple of videos thrown in which I watched today whilst at the gym!

Have a listen and tell me what you think!

Bare Minerals

Bare Minerals Starter Kit
Firstly I would just like to state for the record that this is not a sponsored post.. I purchased the bareMinerals starter kit when I was a bridesmaid earlier this year as I had heard that the foundation longevity was amazing and I just really wanted to share how much I LOVE this product and brand as a whole.

I know that alot of people are put off by bareMinerals foundation with it being a powder based makeup, and think that because it is powder it automatically means it is a matte finish. I've also had friends tell me they can't be bothered as there seems to be lots of little pots involved!

I probably even thought the same before I had tried it, and I would really recommend that people go and have it put on if they have fallen out of love with their current face make up! The sales consultants can show you that this foundation gives the finish you want depending on how you apply it so if you prefer a dewier finish then fear not this is still very much a potential foundation choice for you!

I went to my local John Lewis where a lovely lady did my face for me and it looked amazing if I may say so myself! All of the products they use are mineral based too and felt a complete dream on my skin. I will definitely be putting some of the products on my christmas list this year!

I have suffered with adult acne and my face can sometimes be weirdly sensitive so to find something that will actively improve my skin's condition was a massive selling point for me.

The powder is so easily applied and it can be as much or as little coverage as you want, there are different options in terms of original, matte or redness busting. I went for original and the sales assistant showed me the application which is literally buffing the powder into the skin. It is a really strange consistency and almost turns to cream when it hits the skin. It doesn't cling to any face fuzz that you have and I find that it looks super natural.

The primer is my favourite primer of the moment and my god I have tried a fair few in the quest of keeping my foundation looking fresh all day! A little goes a long way and this clear almost gel like substance refines pores, improves the skin texture and keeps your makeup right where it should be!

In terms of cost, bareMinerals isn't the most expensive foundation in the market but likewise it is not the cheapest.. however I would strongly recommend that if you try it and like it to buy the starter kit in the shade advised. I am a medium and in the box you get medium and medium beige foundation so I just use the darker when I have a bit of a tan and find that works really well.

The starter kit is £49 in stores which I know some of you will think 'how much?!' but hear me out.. You get 8 things for that price and it does make it much cheaper than if you were to buy the products separately. At first I was like oh these pots are tiny but it does last! (It's worth noting that in the starter kit you get 2g of product in the pots whereas when you purchase a full size foundation at £24 that contains 8g of product so don't panic!)

However there are SO MANY places on the internet you can get the starter kit for cheaper. I bought mine from Feel Unique for £36 as they had a special offer on so make sure you do a price comparison before you purchase! In the kit you get all the brushes you need, the primer, mineral veil which is the almost loose powder you put on top if you like a matte finish and you also get a bronzer. So I think if you pay around the £30-£40 mark then you actually get alot for your money!

I have found that this has improved my skin so much since I started using it. I barely get breakouts now and I feel like my skin looks so much better when I am not wearing makeup too so there are bonuses all round!

Have you ever tried anything and been very pleasantly surprised by it?

#MCRFW 2013 Designer Profile: Merabi by Nadine

Photograph Courtesy of NemesisAgency.co.uk
Last Wednesday evening saw the launch of Merabi by Nadine in Selfridges at the Trafford Centre.

In the run up to Manchester Fashion Week 2013 the designers involved will take part in a number of launch events and parties to increase awareness of their own brand and Manchester Fashion Week itself.

This has all kicked off by the star studded launch of Nadine's diffusion line in Selfridges, Merabi by Nadine. Merabi by Nadine is a relatively young brand but one that has increased in popularity dramatically over the two years since Nadine taught herself to sew. (which is a pretty impressive feat itself!)

Now a firm favourite of the soap stars, Merabi by Nadine is a collection that uses some of the most beautiful fabrics, embellishment and detailing I have seen for a long time. The collection mainly concentrates on evening wear and for those of you who have a formal Christmas Party or New Year's Eve event coming up I would highly recommend you head to Selfridges to check it out.

Merabi by Nadine also offers a bespoke dress making service on the website www.merabibynadine.com so if there is something particular you have in mind then I would definitely check it out and you maybe able to get that dress you have always dreamed of!

I was unfortuately unable to attend the launch party but Manchester Fashion Week has lots to keep Manchester Fashionistas busy over the next few months so I am excited to see who is in the spotlight next!

For information on Manchester Fashion Week 2013 check out the website, www.mcrfashionweek.com.

Hen Party in Liverpool

I know what you are probably thinking.. another hen party?! Yep. Another one.. and this is one of the ones I am helping to organise!

My bestie from school is getting married next March so we are in the process of arranging a girlie trip to Liverpool in early Feb! We absolutely LOVED Liverpool when we went last February for my Birthday so it seemed a great option to consider for her hen do.

We will be getting some apartments to house all the hens, doing a pamper night on the Friday night to get glam ready for our night out on the Saturday night and a nice lunch during the day on Saturday!

So here's where I need your help.. I want to find an AMAZING place for us to have our night out. We like chart music, RnB etc and want somewhere that won't mind a hen party coming in and we can have a dance.. nothing too cheesy..or where our feet will stick to the floor! Any ideas?

Would also LOVE some recommendations of hair dressers who can do a fabulous curly blow dry just incase any of the ladies want to have their hair done before we head out!

Once we have everything booked I will defnitely share the details just incase anyone else needs some helpful hints in booking a hen party.. now I just need to source a stripper.. do we think it's acceptable to demand a photo before I book?! I want a Magic Mike style hunk... ;o)

Weekday Wishlist #14

ASOS Curve Oui/Non Belt, YSL Clutch, James Bond for OPI Gold Leaf Top Coat, Zara Fringed Bag, Forever 21 Leopard Print Cardigan
Hellooooo sweeties!

So it's been a while since I have done one of these posts.. I guess with the redundancy I was a little scared of getting ANY FORM of temptation and perusing the internet but I have had a think and the whole purpose of these posts was to dream a little so why should I stop dreaming?

Firstly we have the ASOS Curve Oui/Non Belt. I keep seeing the Moschino/Paris/London Belts and I want in on the action, I really like the look of this belt and I think it would look fab with my wet look skater skirt from good old Primarni.

Secondly.. now this really is a dream. The YSL Clutches are available in a wide variety of colours but I adore this classic nude colour. This is just classic and would be a very welcome addition to the wardrobe if anyone wants to chuck one my way..  :o)

Thirdly we have the James Bond for OPI Gold Leaf Top coat. At £30 for the bottle this is no cheap treat. But oh, so pretty. It contains real gold and applied just about over any colour looks so incredible that I would really love to own this.

Fourthly I have spotted this rather amazing fringed bag from Zara and I am in love with it. It's only £30 I *think* but for suede and such embellishment I think it is quite cheap?

In final place is this cute leopard print cardigan from Forever 21 which is a bargainous £16.75. With the weather getting cooler and the rumours of snow(?!) this weekend I need a few more long sleeves in my life!

What is on everyone else's wishlist this week?

Weave Got Style

Weave Got Style
Do any of you flick through magazines or watch the Kardashian's and get complete hair envy?

Well I most certainly do!

I have come from a family with good hair and I am quite lucky that my hair is relatively thick, so I bet you are probably thinking 'where is she going with this?' and I suppose I want to challenge the perception that hair extensions look really fake, are only for length and belong on celebrities and the TOWIE girls.

Today I am dedicating a post to the art of hair weaves. For those of you who aren't sure what that is.. very briefly a hair weave is where hair wefts are sewn into your own hair by being attached to a small braid underneath your hair line.

Some of you may have had bad experiences with hair weaves.. too tight plaits and headaches etc. I have had one hair weave before and whilst I loved the effect it was just too difficult to manage. This is where Weave Got Style comes in!

Weave Got Style specialise in Caucasian hair and use the finest quality human hair wefts for their weaves.

I had to share my experience with Weave Got Style as I was so impressed and I wanted to tell you all about it! Like I mentioned, I have thick hair, but rather oddly it's only really thick in the back.

Weave Got Style were able to bulk up the front giving me the volume I have dreamed of! I adore the effect of what I had and I think the colour is matched perfectly.

The plaits are very thin and I can genuinely say I have not had any pain or pulling at all. Last time I had a weave the plaits were so tight that it gave me headaches and was very uncomfortable when I went to bed.

Weave Got Style purposefully leave the plaits a bit looser as Caucasian hair is weaker round the face. I can't even feel the plaits and I have found the hair to be really manageable.

Here are my before and after shots!

Before: Sad and Flat :o(
After: Kardashian Hair is MINE!
Weave Got Style is I think very competitive in terms of cost. It's difficult to give an idea of cost as it depends on what you want to achieve and how long you want to go.

I'd say that around £150 is a good approximation though.

The whole experience was fantastic and I cannot recommend them enough. The girls are so friendly and give you helpful tips and advice throughout the whole process and make sure you look through the before and after albums they have! It is AMAZING what they have done on some people!

Weave Got Style also have their own product range which I have also tried and been very pleased with. The shampoo and conditioner are perfect for extensions and the serum makes your hair a complete dream!

They can be styled with normal hair stylers/heat etc and last for 4-8 weeks.

I LOVE WEAVE GOT STYLE!

Professional Beauty North

Today I headed off to Professional Beauty North at Manchester Central. It is literally a MECCA for all things beauty and offers a whole host of products and services at trade prices, meaning that some absolute bargains were there for the taking!

I apologise now for the number of photos but I want you all to see how fab the show is and definitely worth a visit. If you pre-register it is completely free. The majority of well known beauty brands have an exhibition stand and also some lesser known brands too. You can get nail stuff, fake tan, lashes, teeth whitening, beauty potions and lotions, even botox and fillers if you are so inclined!

My haul included an NSI UV Gel Starter Kit and some other nail bits and bobs! I just love the atmosphere in all honesty and the demonstrations! On most of the stands they have demonstrations, tips and tricks which are really helpful.

Another rather exciting purchase are these Millie Mackintosh Lashes! I cannot wait to use them, I think she has got some really lovely styles in her collection and it's nice to have a break from the good old Girl's Aloud lashes! I am thinking these might be a new fave!

I will most likely do a post dedicated to them once I have tried them out, but for now here are some other pics which will make you jealous of just how ruddy gorgeous she is....

Winter Sun Anyone?

Lascana Purple Exotic Tankini £42*, Constellation Polka Dot Luggage from £49*
A month ago I was contacted by the very kind people at Swimwear365 and asked to review some of their fantastic items! I selected the above two items and I just wanted to tell you all about them...

I thought I would post this item now as some lucky devils who read my blog may well be off for some winter sunshine (jel!) and I think there is nothing more frustrating than trying to find swimwear when summer is LONG GONE! Who am I kidding.. we never even got one?!

Swimwear365 is FANTASTIC. I am genuinely very impressed with their service and I will 100% be using them moving forwards.

Now onto the products! I wanted to sample some of their swimwear and also something else so that I could highlight that Swimwear365 are literally a one stop holiday shop. They do EVERYTHING!

I am a typical apple shape where unfortunately I carry weight on the tummy area more than everywhere else, so normally I would go for a swimsuit, but one of the features on the Swimwear365 site is that they have a body shape calculator and make recommendations based on your body shape.

Due to the looser fit on this Tankini round the waist it was recommended to me with my apple shape. When it arrived I absolutely fell it love with it! It is the first tankini I have worn in years and I actually feel like it looks nice on me. I didn't quite feel ready to post a picture of me wearing it on line but I would definitely say it is true to size and the fit is perfect. It is underwired cups and has adjustable straps. The pants are not too low (I hate that!!) and I felt that they were very well sized too. The sizing is a clothing size and a bra cup size too.

I also got one of the cabin size suitcases as we always seem to never have enough cases and I thought this little one would be the perfect addition! Again I was super impressed with this product, I used it on a business trip and it was the perfect size for a couple of days away!

I would highly recommend Swimwear365 - go and check it out today!

Life Update

Hi everyone!

Just a little life update from me... yesterday I got made redundant. And it sucks. I have two weeks left in the office and have to find a job pronto which is never exactly a fun task.

I have been working in HR for my day job for quite some time now and I love it. I know that when I find the right company for me that I will be successful as I have a lot to give. I guess it's just hard as it was a big shock to me and with the timing being in the run up to Christmas it is far from ideal but I just have to get back up, brush myself off and get back out there and keep everything crossed for a miracle!

If any of you know of any HR Advisor level opportunities in the Manchester area then please please please let me know. I am very hard working and committed, just need to find my next lucky employer! :o)

Here is a link to my LinkedIn Profile just incase any of you want to check me out on a professional level and please get in touch if you know of any vacancies.

Fingers crossed eh?!

Enrapture Jumbo Waver

Enrapture Jumbo Waver
Today I thought I would share another of my favourite hair styling tools, the Enrapture Jumbo Waver. For those of you who follow my blog you will remember this from my recent Beauty and the Beach competition entry!

The waver is 2 prongs that sit inside a curved plate, giving you the perfect S shape waves.

Mischa Barton
I first wanted to foray into waved locks when Marissa from the OC used to wear hers with a gorgeous beachy waved look. As my hair is pretty much straight unless I do something with it, I needed something that would be able to handle my thick hair!

My mum bought me this for Christmas last year and I LOVE IT. Not only does it come in the most amazing packaging but it genuinely is worth every penny.

I have had a quick look online to see where is selling them at a discount.. thanks Amazon! Amazon are selling the Waver for £55.99 which is approx £20 off RRP.

Hiii!
What I particularly like about this styler is that the temperature is changeable so you can either get very defined waves if it is at it's hottest, or if you have it cooler you can just add a little texture. It is perfect for thick hair and it has a heat mat included with it so no more scorched floors!

What I tend to do is to blast off wet hair and then section it off so that it's easier to manage. It also works very nicely if you have washed your hair earlier in the day and need to have a little change for a night out! I then add some hairspray and it's done!

It's probably one of the easiest and most effective ways of changing your hair style that I have ever used!

My SS13 Fashion Week Faves

Alexa Chung, Anna-Sophia Robb, Chloe Green, Kelly Brook, Lauren Conrad, Louise Roe
Olivia Palermo, Cara Delevingne, Pixie Lott, Rachel Zoe, Pixie and Olivia again!
One of my favourite things about the Fashion Week Season is seeing what the celebs wear when they attend the shows. As it's generally the done thing to wear something by the designer in question, I find it really interesting to see how they style the trends.

We have seen the fash-pack head out in New York, London and Paris and here are my favourite looks from the shows. What I like about all of these outfits are that they are glam but achievable and also they look comfortable!

Ever single one of those outfits above I would wear (perhaps not Chloe Green's god-awful boots) My particular faves have to be Miss Palermo who literally never gets it wrong and also Pixie Lott has been a surprise contender! Olivia's last outfit is absolutely stunning and one I will be trying to recreate for an outing!

It has got me thinking now.. what an earth am I going to wear for Manchester Fashion Week next year?!

Scissors and Sparkles

Too Funky Blow Dry Bar Manchester
Last week I was very kindly invited to attend the Too Funky Hair Salon Launch in Manchester!

Based in the rather lovely Barton Arcade, Too Funky Hair was formerly known as the Hair Cuttery and Hair1UK but has rebranded to become Manchester's largest Blow Dry Bar.

Blow Dry Bars have been popular in NYC for some time and have slowly transitioned across the pond firstly to London and now Manchester! I absolutely love the concept - sometimes you might not have time to get home and do your hair in between finishing work and going out so being able to pop into a salon just for a blow dry is very convenient! After all, fabulous hair is a must-have for any girl about town!

Too Funky Hair offers this service in their very well equipped salon with some very talented stylists.

The launch party added some glamour to what was an otherwise cold, rainy Wednesday evening, I popped along to check it all out and was treated to 'to dye for' cupcakes from Natalie's Cupcakery and 'Blown Away' Cocktails from Rosso! The TFH team then showcased their talents by a series of demonstrations.

It is also worth noting that TFH has probably the largest variety of professional hair products that I have ever seen, stocking the vast majority of well known brands!

So all in all, a great night was had and I am excited to give their Blow Dry Service a try! Now I just need to be invited to something that warrants a trip to the salon :o)

If you want to book in check out the salon's Facebook page here.
