#Marbs2012 Mel's Hens!

Me and Mel (The Bride), Toy Boy Alex - the 'Erotic Waiter', Nikki Beach Posing, More Nikki Beach, Our Villa - Casa Feliz, Lots of Drinkies at News Cafe, Linekers Puerto Banus, Alex's Business Card, Butler in the Buff, Bridal Vajazzle, Me and Sara, My Customised Beach Bag creation for the Bride, Pin the Cucumber on the Hunk, Strawberry Daiquiri, Marbella Beach, Well Jel!
So last weekend saw 14 of us head to Marbella for my pal's Hen Do. We head off early on Thursday morning from Manchester Airport where the dress code was 'jet set chic'. Think I failed miserably.. But the 4am wake up call was just too traumatic to think about putting on anything other than an outfit as close to the comfort levels of PJs!

We nearly missed our flight as we had a cheeky glass of Champers at Epernay and then had to literally run to the gate.. whoopsie!

Our first night was a meal in the villa served by the lovely 'Toy Boy Alex' and then we headed off out to Linekers Bar in Puerto Banus which was brilliant! On Friday we went to Buddha Beach Bar for a pool party and then out to News Cafe in the evening.. then on Saturday it was lunch at Nikki Beach then dinner at Belvedere and Cocktails at Seven! Sunday was generally hard work as we were all a tad hungover and had an hour transfer back to Malaga on the 'Chunder Wagon' and then an afternoon flight back to Manchester.

We had such a fab time, it was the first hen do I have ever been on and I loved it! The Bride is having one in Chester this weekend for the people who couldn't join us in Marbella.. I can't wait!

I keep getting tagged in photos on Facebook however.. and I am quite sure there will be a few terrible snaps of me! :o)

Models Own IT!

I have recently been introduced into the world of Models Own beauty products, mostly the nail polishes (although if they would like to send me some of their other pieces I would love to review!!) and I have to say I am VERY pleasantly surprised.

I'll be honest.. I figure I am amongst friends here but I have become a bit of a brand snob on certain beauty products and was convinced that whilst I love trying all sorts of nail polishes I would always remain brand loyal to OPI.

How very wrong I was.. Lily on her blog reviewed the Hed Kandi for Models Own range and in typical Sally fashion I immediately decided to investigate what the fuss was about and you can see from my various blog posts that I have become somewhat obsessed...

I think they are fantastically priced at 5 shiny pounds (or 2 for £8 at Boots!) and the cover and quality are up there with the professional use polishes I have purchased from Trade Fairs (and my OPI collection).

In terms of colours available I do think that Models Own have got the edge in releasing on trend colours, for example the Hed Kandi Collection which is focused on Neon Brights and Glitters and whilst you do see some polishes similar in OPI or others out there, I don't think I have ever seen shades like Hedonist or Balearic Cool. Also likewise with the Beetle Juice Collection - Indian Ocean and Tropical Sun are the most beautiful pearlised polishes.

As a qualified Manicurist and Pedicurist (check my blatant bragging.. sorry) I am very particular about the finish and colour density of my polishes and especially their staying power. To the point where if I have one bad experience I will not use the brand again (yes Nails Inc I am talking about you). I think if you are spending your pennies on something it should work and not rely on you buying just about every other product in the range to make sure it stays put (can you tell I am peeved about my Nails Inc purchases of the past?).

I am off to Beauty UK in Birmingham on Sunday (most excited!!) to stock up on my beauty products/nails/tan etc as it is at trade cost and I can honestly say I don't think I will be buying any polish (unless OPI have got the Minnie Mouse collection and I really cannot be held responsible for my actions) as I feel like I have found a new favourite brand in Models Own!

My only wish now is for them to be stocked in my local Boots.. :o)

The Only Way is Marbs 2012!

Hair dryer.. rollers.. suncream and aftersun!
Sooo this week I have mostly been getting very excited about my pal's hen do in Marbella! We go on 24th May for a long weekend and I actually cannot wait to head off there :)

There are 14 of us going and it will clearly be girlie madness but also a fab experience as we are all staying in a villa.. The amounts of fake tan, lashes and hairspray will be EPIC!

I went shopping this evening to get some bits and bobs and was a little disappointed.. I did however get the most amazing smelling aftersun lotion from Hawaiian Tropic so I'm going to smell like a piƱa colada for the weekend! :)

I will post lots of pics, can't reveal too much at present at alot of it is a surprise but she will love every second!

What have you lot been up to?

Bank Holiday Fun

Thank GOD for the Bank Holiday! I don't know about you but I needed a break. This weekend I have had a fairly quiet one, went to a party at a Rugby Club last night and have been organising my makeup!

I love seeing what different people have as their ultimate staple makeup items so I thought I would post my faves to get a discussion going...

MAC Studio Sculpt Foundations (2 different colours depending on how tanned I am), MAC to the Beach Bronzer and Blusher, MAC Blush in Fleur Power, MAC Mineralize Power, Nars Highlighter in Orgasm, Benefit Miss Popularity

Pout and MAC Brushes and AMAZE Stippling Brush from Boots!

Rollers and Eyelure Superfull Lashes (I cut them in half and apply to the edge of my lashes)

My favourite eye make up bits and bobs; Illamasqua Pigments, Lancome Hypnose Mascara, MAC Mineralise Eyeshadows, Nars Eyeshadows and Benefit Loose Powder Shadow in Bambi
I absolutely LOVE makeup and enjoy experimenting with different looks. Some suit me more than others but I think it's good to rule certain things out if they don't suit you, for example red lipstick. It pains me to say this but I just don't think it looks good on me at all. It may be that I have not found the right shade, but I am quite good at knowing what colours suit me and red just isn't my colour, I wouldn't really wear red clothes either as it makes me feel like I look all pink and ruddy skinned! I always come back to a bronzed makeup look with gold or brown eyeshadow as I think it makes my green eyes stand out more.

What's your 'go-to' makeup look? Are you faithful to one brand or do you try them all like me? :o)
